How to plant a strawberry with a mustache?
If you decide to plant strawberries with a mustache, then you need to advance, about a year, to choose bushes that abundantly bear fruit. Next year it is necessary to pick flowers from these bushes, and give the mustache an opportunity to grow and form rosettes.
After the formation of the first outlet, it should be pressed with a pin to the ground so that the roots take root more quickly. The same must be done with the second outlet. On each mustache, it is the first two or three sockets that should be used for seedlings. The subsequent ones may not take root or give a weak crop.
So the seedlings are ready, but how to plant strawberries? There is nothing complicated about it. Young bushes are carefully separated from the main plant. They need to be excavated together with a lump of earth and immediately planted on a prepared bed.
After planting, plants should be watered and then do it every day for a week.
There is a second way to plant strawberries with a mustache. A rosette appearing on a mustache, without tearing it from the bush, is carefully fixed with a hairpin in a glass, for example, from yogurt or sour cream. Of course, the pre-cup is filled with earth. The soil in the cup must be constantly kept moist so that the root system develops well. When the seedlings give from 4 to 6 leaves, it is carefully separated from the mother bush and transferred to the garden.
How to plant strawberries by dividing the bush?
Malusou or bezusy strawberries can be planted by the division method. An adult bush should be divided into several parts. The main condition is that there should be roots on each part, even if only a few. It is desirable to cut the leaves so that the plant directs all forces to the formation of the root system.
After planting such seedlings, the soil must necessarily be kept moist.
How to plant strawberries: what else do you need to know?It is best to plant strawberries in the evening, when the sun is not so hot, or in cloudy weather. If the heat sets in the next day, it would be nice to cover the seedlings, for example, with hay, thus creating a shadow for it.
Plants should be planted at a distance no closer than 30-35 cm from each other, between rows should be at least 50 cm. It is necessary to provide young bushes with a place for growth.
A week after planting, it is recommended to fertilize the strawberries with a solution of chicken manure (dilute it in water). It is necessary to water between the rows.
During August, it is useful to carry out several loosening of the soil to ensure the flow of oxygen to the roots. Then the ground between the young plants should be mulched. To do this, suitable grass or needles, hay or straw. Mulching, firstly, helps to maintain moisture, and secondly, protects against weeds.
Strawberries planted in this way will give their first crop in the spring.
