Today, polyurethane coating is widely used both for private homes and for public spaces. It is good because it is resistant to high humidity, is not afraid of germs and can serve for years. Bulk polyurethane floors can be easily laid with your own hands.
Coating Benefits
Long-term observations have proved that a polyurethane bulk coating is optimal for installation in industrial premises and not only. They are convenient and reliable. These floors are a seamless structure with a polyurethane layer, through which the concrete part of the coating is closed.
They are highly resistant to influences of both mechanical and chemical nature, are flexible, able to withstand temperature extremes.
Key features of polyurethane coating:
- dust free;
- sustainability;
- ease of installation;
- wide range of textures;
- practicality of use;
- service life up to 20 years;
- environmental friendliness;
- ease in terms of care.
Areas of use
Such a polyurethane coating is recommended to be placed in rooms where frequent vibration and floor mobility is noted, as well as where there are hard abrasive loads.
They are often used on such objects as:
- storage for various purposes;
- industrial type freezers and refrigerators ;
- food production;
- office rooms;
- exhibition centers and terminals;
- warehouses and hangars;
- workshops for the production of non-food products;
- agricultural facilities.
Technical features
Polyurethane flooring is one of the varieties of polymer compositions. At the same time, against the background of all the others, it is most elastic and has minimal sensitivity when cracking concrete, which goes a layer below it: cracks overlap to a millimeter. Also, due to its characteristics, it has high impact resistance compared to other bulk coatings. For example, a polyurethane floor is able to withstand even a drop in cargo from a meter height weighing up to 5 kg. And frost-resistant characteristics allow it to be installed in industrial refrigerators.
In addition, it is great for open areas and rooms where there is no heating. For example, coverage for sports fields can also be made on the basis of polyurethane.
Structural Classification
Floors of this type are of the following types:
- thin layer;
- universal;
- decorative;
- anti-slip;
- antistatic.
Below we consider how each listed polyurethane coating differs from another.
Thin and universal floors
These types of coatings are a composition of resins based on polyurethane and are used for closed objects, where there will be no mechanical stress or strong friction. They are distinguished by their attractive appearance, ease of maintenance, resistance to dirt and a solid base. You can update this polyurethane coating by simply repainting it.
Install it on a concrete base, which carries the main load. And the coating itself has a thickness of up to 0.5 mm. It is made by grinding and filling the base, then apply up to 2 layers of primer and varnish.
But universal coatings are used for multilayer floors without seams. They are used in closed premises, such as workshops, workshops, warehouses, manufacturing, hospitals, shops and much more.
They are highly durable, resistant to abrasion and tolerate dynamic loads, there is no slipping, it is easy to care for, and they also tolerate cleaning chemicals well.
The thickness of such a coating depends on its functions and base and ranges from 1.5 to 2.5 mm. It can be much larger if the base is uneven and needs to be leveled.
Decorative and other types of floors
The price of a polyurethane coating depends on the manufacturer and its characteristics. Decorative floors can cost differently depending on thickness, color scheme and other features. They consist of basic material, decorative PVC parts and varnish.
And anti-slip coatings are used for the manufacture of multilayer bulk structures. They are relevant for indoor industrial and industrial type. Polyurethane coatings with anti-slip effect consist of a polymer mass, which includes a quartz filler.
Antistatic products are designed for industrial premises of a closed type, where it is extremely undesirable to accumulate static charges. This includes rooms with a large number of computers and other equipment, as well as those containing explosive substances. They are able to discharge static charges, have an attractive appearance, dust does not accumulate on them.
Sports floor coverings
Some types of floors can be used in fitness centers, training facilities for soccer players and other facilities of this type. Such a coating for sports fields not only looks attractive, but also has traumatic safety and high quality.
Depending on the requirements, it can have a different structure: porous, rough or monolithic. The coating for sports fields is poured on a concrete base or with the addition of asphalt or on the old one, which was used at the facility before repair.
The main advantage of this type of flooring is not only an affordable price. Thanks to their installation, the sports field, fitness center or production hall will become safer. After all, they are united primarily by the fact that visitors to such objects as a result of classes or work can receive certain injuries, but the main thing is to prevent this.
Installation work
The filling is carried out by means of a squeegee, a roller and a drill with a nozzle in the form of a mixer. Also do not forget about the primer to prepare the base for the coating. Some compounds are absorbed too quickly, so in some cases the procedure is performed twice in a row.
Pouring work must be done when the room temperature is 10-25 degrees with a humidity of 75 percent. Prior to solidification, eliminate the possibility of drafts and temperature differences.
Mix the contents of the bucket so that there are no seals or lumps. Let it brew for 15 minutes and repeat the action. Do not knead too much at once, as it hardens within an hour.
Filling begins 12 hours after the primer. Start from far corners and then move to the exits. The floor will freeze on the second day, before that you canβt walk on it.
As for the cost of polyurethane coatings, it ranges from 300 rubles per kilogram. Bulk floors are most often sold in buckets weighing about 20-25 kilograms. A square meter of coverage will cost from 157 to 900 rubles per square meter. Before you get this or that composition, decide on where exactly this coating is planned to be laid. Indeed, in composition they can differ significantly from each other, and what is suitable for one object will categorically be unacceptable in the conditions of another.
