Platform "Northerner" - a convenient and quick way to get to the shopping center "Golden Babylon"

The Severyanin platform has been popular for several years in a row both among Moscow residents and guests of the capital. The thing is that across the street from it every day the largest shopping center in all of Europe (within the city) - "Golden Babylon" - opens its doors to everyone.

Instead of the subway

This is only in September 2016, as part of the launch of the Moscow Central Ring (MCC), the Rostokino metro station was opened in the main throne in the immediate vicinity of the shopping center. And before that, the only high-speed transport with a stopping point in the immediate vicinity of the shopping center was the Yaroslavl direction of the Moscow Railway. The nearest metro stations: VDNH, Botanical Garden and Sviblovo, are located two kilometers from the shopping center and beyond. And this is about a half-hour walk through semi-industrial territory, and even then with a brisk pace and in good weather. You can, of course, get from the metro and by bus, but for residents of the suburbs, especially for those who live in the north of the Moscow region, it is much more convenient to use suburban trains. For them, the Northerner platform is the most convenient access to the shopping center.

Yaroslavl direction

History

The stopping point of the Northern Railway was launched in 1932. A few years earlier, it was just possible to electrify regular rail links between the capital and Mytishchi near Moscow. Due to the rapid growth of industrial enterprises, a sharp increase in passenger traffic prompted management to equip new stations.

The name "Northerner" platform got its name in honor of the suburban village of "Red Northerner". Prigorodnogo, because in those years Moscow had not yet exceeded its borders beyond the boundaries of the Moscow District Railway (where the MCC now passes). And although the residential part of the settlement was located a little north, in the Yenisei street, this did not save her from her sad fate. The village was completely demolished in the late fifties, equipping the Moscow-Commodity sorting station in its place.

Quick and easy

The Yaroslavl direction of the Moscow Railway originates from the station of the same name, and in order to get to the Severyanin platform from here, it will take the passenger only 14 minutes. During this time, the electric train manages to walk seven kilometers and make 3 possible additional stops. Many agree that it is much faster and more convenient than standing in a traffic jam, getting to the Golden Babylon shopping center on a free bus. The Yaroslavsky station itself is located almost in the center of the city, on the square of three stations in Moscow, not far from the Komsomolskaya metro station. Despite the fact that the Severyanin platform is in the second zone, the fare in Moscow is the same and amounts to 32 rubles per one-way ticket.

Location

The stopping point consists of two island platforms and one side. In 2008, the station was partially reconstructed, equipped with checkpoints for passenger turnstiles of the ASOKUPE system, and additional barriers were installed at its borders to prevent unauthorized persons from entering the railway track and developing the station. The third platform, the eastern one, is the backup one, it is used extremely rarely, only during peak congestion of the line and for the passage or temporary settlement of freight trains. A footbridge connects all three platforms.

Sometimes it’s quite difficult to find where the Northerner’s platform is located, especially for those who first arrived in this area. The massive base of the eponymous automobile flyover successfully hides it from prying eyes. From the other end, it is difficult to distinguish it due to heavy traffic at the interface between the Yaroslavl highway and Serebryakov and Yeniseiskaya streets. However, you can go to it safely and anywhere. On the one hand, the entrance to the Severyaninsky bridge is crossed by an underground pedestrian crossing, and on the other - by overhead.

Transplantation

The development of metropolitan public transport does not stand still, which is what Moscow is famous for. The Severyanin platform was actively included in the passenger system of high-speed transport in September 2016, with the opening of the Rostokino MCC station. The transition between the stations takes about 5-7 minutes and runs along the street sidewalk.

The construction of a “warm transition” between the stations is underway, for which they plan to move the platform 250 meters to the south. Bus and trolleybus links along Yaroslavskoye Shosse, Yeniseyskaya Street and Serebryakova Passage have the Severyanin Platform stop in their way. The nearest metro that they connect is the Botanichesky Sad, Sviblovo and VDNKh stations ". And the bus of route 93 reaches even the Medvedkovo metro station. You can also transfer to the platform from the tram of route 17, which will take the passenger to either VDNKh metro station or Babushkinskaya metro station.

Train collision

On April 19, 2003, near the Losinoostrovskaya station, on the border of which the Severyanin platform is located, a train collision occurred, as a result of which two people were killed and fourteen were injured. The LCA railcar crashed into a stationary train with a KZD crane, transporting a team of repairmen to the place of electrical work.

The imposition of several factors led to the tragic disaster. The driver of the trolley, in violation of the instructions of the dispatcher, drove outside the station, where the collision occurred. Moreover, in the trolley there were 21 workers, instead of 9 laid. The dispatcher violated the rules for shunting trains on the railway, and the station attendant allowed the trolley to leave without checking the train radio station and documents.
