The origin of the name of the river

According to the most popular version, the name of the river comes from the Mari word "ilede", which translates as "uninhabited", "uninhabited". It is worth noting that the coast of Linda was indeed for a long time free from permanent human settlements. Another version connects this hydronym with the ancient German word lindan - “valley”, “hollow”.
Nowadays it is very difficult to call the Linda River uninhabited. On its shores there are a number of holiday villages and towns. The largest of them are the village of Zheleznodorozhny, the village of the same name Linda, the villages of Rekshino and Kantaurovo.
The nature of the channel. Source and mouth
The Linda River is a classic example of a flat watercourse with a small slope and a calm course. It flows through the territory of two administrative regions of the Nizhny Novgorod region - Semenovsky and Borsky.

Exploring the valley, vegetation and wildlife
Most of the river valley lies in the middle of a dense wooded area. Therefore, Linda is considered a forest river. The water in the river is always clean and cool due to the numerous spring tributaries. The bottom of Linda is mostly sandy, sometimes with admixtures of silt. The shores in places are quite steep and steep. The average depth of the channel is one and a half meters.
The Linda Valley is quite wide (1.5-2.5 km) and well expressed on the ground. The floodplain, on the contrary, is narrow. Only in the lower reaches of the river does it reach a width of 800-1000 meters. Linda feeds mainly on rain and groundwater. According to its chemical composition, the water in the river is hydrocarbonate, slightly acidic. Rigidity is small, mineralization is weak.
Aquatic and coastal vegetation is represented mainly by rdest, Vallisneria and Elodea. In the upper and middle reaches there are plants such as calendula and oily. Sedge is ubiquitous.
The Linda River is famous for its rich ichthyofauna (13 species). In the spring season, in the lower reaches you can find another 25 species of fish swimming here from the Volga. About 30 species of mollusks and other representatives of zoobenthos were found in the bottom sediments of the river. In the waters of Linda and some of its tributaries, there are also two species of animals listed in the Red Book - this is Russian hodgepodge and brook lamprey.
Features of fishing on Linda
Despite significant anthropogenic development of the river basin, good conditions for the development and active reproduction of ichthyofauna are still preserved in it. The most common fish species in Linda are roach, dace, bleak, perch, pike and gudgeon. Indicators of fish productivity range from 5 kg / ha in the upper reaches to 15 kg / ha in the lower and middle reaches.
The most fishing spots on Linda are in the lower reaches of the river. This is the so-called Lindovsky pit and the vicinity of the village of Rekshino. Pike, ide, perch, roach, burbot, dace and other types of fish are perfectly caught here.
The estuary section of Linda is characterized by steep banks and numerous debris from dry trees. There are not many approaches to the shore, therefore, in the warm season, many people practice fishing from inflatable boats here. Quite successful can be fishing on bottom gear.
