What to see in Spain?

It's no secret that holidays in Spain are becoming more and more popular every year. Moreover, most tourists choose Catalonia for travel, where one of the most beautiful cities in the country is located - Barcelona. This choice is obvious. After all, if you list all the attractions of this unusual city, then the answer to the question of what to visit in Barcelona will take more than one day. And the sunny Mediterranean coast will allow every tourist to fully enjoy a traditional beach holiday. Therefore, most often it is Barcelona and its environs that Russian travelers choose to relax.

The inhabitants of Catalonia are still debating about when Barcelona was founded. According to the first version, back in the 3rd century BC, the legendary Hercules founded the first small settlement here. Then the development and establishment of the city was helped by the father of Hannibal the Carthaginian Barka. He rebuilt the city in many ways and named it after his Barsino family.

According to the second version, before the arrival of Barki, there were no settlements on the site of the city. But in any case, the history of Barcelona has stretched for millennia. It is not for nothing that in the architecture of this southern city you can simultaneously see Moorish motifs, Gothic cathedrals and ancient palaces. The surrealists had a great influence on the creation of the modern look of the city. In the world there is no longer such a place where there are so many buildings, parks, museums and temples, made in this style. You can spend days traveling around the city and form your opinion about what to see in Spain above all.

When buying a tourist tour, you need to keep in mind that usually the first tour of Barcelona begins immediately, at the exit of the airport. Vacationers are transported through the city streets past the Columbus Monument, to the observation deck to the Montjuic Fortress, which offers beautiful views of the seaport of Barcelona and its surroundings. Also, during this excursion, tourists find themselves at the Temple of the Holy Family - the most famous creation of the famous architect Antonio Gaudi, whose construction work is still ongoing. Already in the first hours of their stay, thoughts about what to see in Spain smoothly turn into the question: how to be in time and see everything?

If we talk about my personal impressions of a trip to Barcelona, the most memorable thing is the following.

  • All gingerbread fabulous houses of Gaudi and Park Guell. And to explain what the magic of these architectural ensembles so similar to toys is impossible. This is a must see.
  • The Magikas Fountain or the singing fountains are a bewitching, magnificent sight, and absolutely free. Classical music and famous world hits of our time are heard during the show.
  • Travel by cable car - a beautiful view, a modern track. From the height above sea level and the apparent fragility of the glass cabin, it was simply breathtaking.
  • Slow walks around the square around and inside the Sagrada Familia. Here you are again amazed at how the Catalans were not afraid in one city to collect so many diverse and unusual buildings. Interestingly, this cathedral is being built with donations from parishioners and work on the final decoration is still underway.
  • To any Russian football fan, the question of what to see in Spain can be answered: β€œSee how the Spaniards celebrate the victory of their team.” A magnificent night spent on the streets of the city with the fans of the world famous FC Barcelona football team after their victory in the UEFA Champions League was unforgettable. No fights, showdowns, drunken faces. Everyone danced, sang and had fun.

According to some tourists, walks in the Gothic quarter and the Old Town are mandatory. Others try to go around all the places associated with Gaudi and Salvador Dali. For the third, it is important not only to find out what to see in Spain, but also where to buy gifts and souvenirs to relatives and friends. It is not for nothing that Spanish leather shoes and bags, noble wines, textile products and much more are famous all over the world. But Catalonia is far from all of Spain. What to see in this beautiful country is impossible to tell in one article.
