How to crochet a belt: schemes and description of models

Many craftswomen who know how to knit, think about how to make a belt crochet. Patterns and description (for dresses, tunics or even jeans) will be offered later, as well as recommendations regarding yarn and knitting techniques.

What material is suitable

To begin with, it should be said that knitted belts should be either very rigid, like traditional belts, or have the appearance of a sash (a narrow soft strip of fabric). If the craftswoman tries to create a tight belt from a thin or too soft thread, the product will be dysfunctional and, most likely, will lie all her life on the bottom of the chest of drawers.

The material should be selected for the selected model, then a practical and beautiful crochet belt will turn out. Diagrams and a description of the dense belt model are given in the following paragraphs.

The best option for hard products is cotton or linen. Its thickness should be at least 300 m per 100 grams, and the size of the hook is No. 2. With this combination of a thick thread and a thin hook, the canvas should turn out to be rather rough. If the craftswoman knits too weakly, it is better for her to use the hook even smaller. At the end of the work, hook the belt (the diagrams and description, as well as the thickness of the thread, do not matter at this stage) should be steamed with an iron and soaked in a solution of starch or sugar.

Sash Belts

For soft belts, you can use absolutely any yarn except acrylic (it will roll and quickly lose its appearance). Products of their thin cotton, microfiber and viscose look good. They are knitted very long, since the free edges should be tied into a knot and hang at least 40 cm.

The ends of the belt are often decorated with fringe with beads, beads or sequins. In this case, more material is required to perform such crocheting of the belt (the diagrams and description may be a fragment of a regular even fabric or lace border). Soft products do not need to be starch, but it is advisable to steam them out of the iron. It is not worth putting the heated device on the canvas, since the artificial fibers immediately adhere to the sole. When working with cotton, this is not dangerous.

How to crochet an openwork belt: schemes and description

The photo below shows an example of a hard openwork belt. In order for its size to be as planned by the craftswoman, a test sample should be performed using the selected threads and scheme.

The finished fragment must be steamed with an iron so that it takes a real size (stretched or shrunk). Then you need to measure one rapport and calculate how many they will need for the whole product. It should be noted that when worn, the belt will inevitably stretch a few centimeters.

Now you can start crocheting a belt. The diagrams and description give a complete picture of the order of work:

  1. Make a chain of air loops (VP) of the desired size.
  2. 3 VP, * 3 double crochet (CCH), 2 VP, 3 CCH, 1 VP *. The part of the description between the asterisks must be repeated until the end of the row.
  3. * 3VP, a lush column of 5SSN (PS), 5 VP, PS, 3 VP, single crochet (RLS) *.
  4. Next, you need to connect 3VP and proceed to processing the second side of the initial chain from the VI. All actions are performed in the same way as along the first side.

Shutdown

When the fabric is connected, it needs to be steamed and starched. Then sew on the selected clasp. It can be a buckle, buttons, magnet or something else.

Often, a long fringe is also attached to such products, which are then tied into a knot.

Buckles are very functional, since their core can penetrate into any hole in the openwork fabric.

I must say that, no matter how strong such a belt may turn out, it still cannot be used as an alternative to an ordinary belt. If you want to thread the product into the loops of jeans or other trousers, you should take care of the lining.

Lined belts

The photo below depicts products sewn onto a fabric base. This solution gives ready-made belts many important qualities:

  1. Lack of elasticity (they do not stretch).
  2. Durability.
  3. Durability (serve longer and do not break).

belt based

Bright cotton is used here as the basis, but you can sew a knitted lace strip on a regular leather belt. By the way, this solves the problem with the buckle and the holes for its pin.

If the craftswoman decides to sew the base on her own, she may not make holes for fastening the buckle. The photo shows that there are ways to fix the belts in the desired position by sewing buckles with a special design.

To make the base of the product sufficiently dense, several layers of non-woven fabric or some hard fabric (for example, tarpaulin or jeans) should be inserted inside.

You can recycle the remains of thin threads to create such a belt with a hook (the schemes and description are completely different here). As an alternative to a knitted fabric, a wide openwork border made of cotton is suitable. In a fabric store you need to buy a piece of the required length and sew to the selected base.
