In 1975, the management decided to include this institution in the list of facilities in which competitions will be held at the 1980 Olympics. For two years, the complex was under repair. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, many facilities were destroyed. Training halls turned into commercial enterprises. But this Moscow rink was lucky to continue to work as intended.
Until 2001, the complex was pretty old and required a huge repair. It was then that the institution took custody of the Spartak Team Support Fund. At their expense, equipment was replaced, new cooling machines were installed, playgrounds were improved, and utility and administrative premises were reconstructed. In fact, the Sokolniki Sports Palace received a new face.
