To familiarize the child with the properties of different materials, you need to come up with an interesting task that is easy to complete in several ways. Application "Hedgehog" - a good option for a lesson in artistic creativity. Going through different types of paper, natural material, the child will not only develop fine motor skills and creative abilities, but will also replenish his knowledge about the world around him.

Manufacturing options

Application "Hedgehog" can be made of various materials and their combinations, for example from:

• colored paper;
• corrugated paper;
• tissue;
• dried leaves and petals;
• cereals or seeds;
• plasticine.

Choose the idea you like, or rather, invite your child to try different techniques.

What you need for work

Application "Hedgehog" will require the preparation of the following:

• basis for gluing (white or color cardboard, paper);
• template (outline drawing);
• a pencil and an eraser for drawing a contour (or a printer for printing a workpiece);
• stencils for cutting parts (torso, nose, eyes);
• glue.

The rest will depend on what you are going to use as the main material (leaves, cereals, paper, etc.).

Application "Hedgehog" made of paper

This is the easiest material to process. This work is easily done by the younger preschooler. You can use this method:

1. Find a ready-made template for the application or just liked the picture with a hedgehog.
2. Print the image in duplicate or according to the instructions that came with the template.
3. Cut the workpiece elements (from one sheet), the second will be the basis.
4. Glue parts to appropriate places. If you use an intermediate layer of pieces of cardboard or foam for each part, you get a volume application.

Another way, where templates are not needed, will require only a base sheet, a torso blank and strips of any paper on which a fringe is cut.

It is convenient to use corrugated paper. It is easy not only to cut such wide needles out of it, but also to twist thin flagella from each, which will look very natural and even voluminous. If such a fringe is cut not into strips, but into circles, equal in diameter to the hedgehog fur coat, which are glued to each other, you get a voluminous craft.

Application of cereals and seeds

Now you know how to make the application “Hedgehog” from paper, however, this is not the only material that can be used to do crafts. Relief images laid out from cereals and seeds, like from mosaic elements, look very impressive and unusual. To make this work, proceed as follows:

1. Find a suitable outline image or color picture where the main character is a hedgehog. Print the template.
2. Find seeds or cereals that are suitable for color, shape, and texture. Needles are well laid out from sunflower seeds, although watermelon grains are also suitable.
   
   Melon or rice grains have a suitable shape, but they will have to be painted. If you need to change the color of the seeds, this can be done after gluing or before, but with preliminary drying of the paint layer in the second case.
3. Apply glue to the hedgehog coat. Put rows of seeds needles.
4. If the body will also be made from cereals, use a smaller fraction, for example, semolina.
5. Eyes can either not be laid out, but left painted, or glued on top of the decorative layer with plastic ones bought or made of paper (cardboard).

Hedgehog from the leaves: applique

This version of the work will introduce the child to natural materials, teach to compare shapes, colors. It is good to use bright colorful autumn leaves. It is important to dry them properly. They must be freshly picked. The technology is simple: dry the workpieces with an iron through paper or put them between the pages of an unnecessary book under the press. From dried multi-colored leaves you get a very beautiful applique “Hedgehog in the Forest”.

The work is done like this:

1. Take colored cardboard in the right shade. All parts will be glued onto it, so lay the base on a flat surface.
2. Draw, cut out a stencil or a printed template contour image of the body of a hedgehog. If you will not glue it with leaves, glue it to the base blank.
3. To give the character an interesting natural color and a nice texture, glue the blank of the body with leaves, for example, silver willow or poplar. After drying, cut along the contour and also glue to the base.
4. It is easy to make a prickly fur coat by sticking leaves in rows in the directions that the needles are.
5. Eyes can be made of paper, as well as grass, mushrooms and other details. If there is enough natural material, time and patience, make each detail out of leaves by gluing a paper stencil, which, having cut along the contour, later on you will glue your panel to the right place.
