Equatorial forests are also called the lungs of our planet, and this is true, because they produce a lot of oxygen, purify the air from substances harmful to the human body. The richest flora and fauna is concentrated in this natural zone; about 2/3 of all species of insects, mammals, birds and reptiles in the world live in various tiers. Animals of the equatorial forests are notable for their unusual exotic appearance and unique ability to survive in the most extreme conditions.
It is difficult to list all species of fauna living here. In the tropics lives one of the largest representatives of insects - the goliath beetle. A huge number of butterflies live here, there are armadillos, anteaters,
arachnids, sloths, bats, chameleons, chain-tailed porcupines, llamas, and many species of birds. In the terrestrial tiers of the forest you can meet representatives of reptiles, and the most poisonous snakes in the world are hidden in the trees.
Animals of the equatorial forests are predatory in nature. The most striking representative of mammals is the jaguar. This is one of the largest representatives of cats, it hunts mainly in the dark, feeds on turtles, birds, ungulates, monkeys. The jaguar easily climbs a tree, thanks to its spotty color it perfectly disguises itself, swims perfectly, its jaws can bite through the shell, and in rare cases it attacks sleeping alligators. This predator is fully adapted to life in this natural area.

Animals of the equatorial forest survive not only due to cunning, resourcefulness and furious disposition, but also due to their size. For example, not everyone dares to attack an elephant. This harmless-looking creature will fight for life to the last, and if it picks up acceleration, then not one predator dies under powerful legs. It is worth noting the skill of the leopard. Animals of the equatorial forests should be able to do everything, and this large representative of the cat is the embodiment of a hunter who can cope with almost any victim. The leopard easily climbs tree branches, attacks monkeys, is able to drag a victim over long distances, several times greater than its weight.
Animals of humid equatorial forests are distinguished by their restlessness. The most fun and interesting mammals include monkeys. Monkeys, gorillas, narrow-nosed monkeys, and gibbons live in this zone . Some of them live at an altitude of 50 m above the ground, on the tops of trees. The largest representatives of this class are gorillas, they reach growth of 1.5 m, gain weight up to 260 kg. Not every predator dares to attack them, because adult individuals have incredible strength and without hesitation will repulse the enemy.

Another interesting animals of the equatorial forests are gibbons. Their uniqueness lies in the length of the legs, the forelimbs are longer than the hind limbs, which allows monkeys to easily jump from tree to tree and swing on branches. The fauna of the equatorial forests is very rich and interesting to study, although one cannot but note the increased danger that a person exposes himself when he is here. It is in the tropics that the most poisonous snakes, insects and predatory mammals live.
