Alexey Ivanov is a famous Russian writer. Fame came to him in the early 2000s after the release of the novel "Geographer drank the globe." Later, in the film adaptation of the same name, which also gained success, the main role was played by Konstantin Khabensky. Today it is one of the most visible and significant authors in modern Russian literature.
Childhood and youth
Alexey Ivanov was born in Nizhny Novgorod in 1969. Then the city was still called Gorky. In the early 70's, his parents moved to Perm. As Alexey himself admits, since childhood he dreamed of becoming a writer.
In 1987, he entered the Ural State University in Sverdlovsk at the Faculty of Journalism. However, after studying for only a year, Alex realized that this was not his.
And in 1990, he entered the same university, but already at the faculty of art history, deciding to get the most versatile education. However, working in the profession of an art critic and getting a decent salary in Russia in the early 90s was unrealistic. Therefore, after graduation, Ivanov changed a dozen professions. He was a teacher, watchman, guide. Many of them were then reflected in his works.
First novels
In the late 80s, Ivanov began to realize the dream of a career as a writer. His first published work was the fantastic novel "The Hunt for the Big Dipper." She saw the light in the journal Ural Pathfinder, but the famous Soviet science fiction writer Vitaly Bugrov opened the road to great literature in front of the beginning writer.
True, Ivanov soon moved away from fiction, choosing another literary direction - realism. In the early 90s, he began to write actively. First, Ivanov finished the novel "Dormitory on Blood", largely autobiographical, narrating about the author’s life in a hostel of the Ural State University. Then he wrote one of his most famous works, "The geographer drank the globe," about the unfortunate teacher Viktor Ivanovich Sluzhkin. And in 2000, Alexei completed the historical novel "The Heart of Parma", which tells about the accession of Perm to the Moscow Principality in the 15th century. True, these books were written on the table. At best, they managed to publish excerpts in literary magazines. The first book by Alexey Ivanov was released only in 2003.
