Very soon, we will celebrate the New Year and Christmas, so the idea of creating various gifts and souvenirs with our own hands is so relevant. When preparing original products and decor elements, we advise you to pay attention to the decoupage technique and complete the design of a bottle of champagne or another drink in a New Year's, festive theme.
Decorating glass shaped containers is a really interesting, exciting activity. In this article we will tell you how to decoupage New Year's bottles correctly, quickly and easily. Our simple recommendations will help you create your own wonderful gift for loved ones and relatives.
Decoupage Christmas bottles: features of the technique
For work you will need the following materials:
- a beautiful three-layer napkin with a New Year or Christmas motif;
- acrylic varnish;
- priming;
- acrylic paints (selected according to the color of the picture or the napkin itself, for example, white, golden, silver, etc.);
- PVA glue.
Decoupage of New Year's bottles begins with their release from old stickers and degreasing with alcohol or acetone. Acrylic primer is applied uniformly to a clean bottle. After the primer has completely dried, another layer is applied. After the preparatory processing of the containers, they take a napkin with a New Year's motive and carefully separate the upper two layers from the lower. If it is necessary to use not the whole picture, but its parts, the necessary elements should be torn off.
Now the resulting layer with a pattern is applied to the container (facing the glass) and glued to water, after which it is immediately coated with PVA glue (it is pre-diluted with water). Tip: so that the napkin does not tear, it can be pre-treated with ordinary hair spray and left for a while. After gluing the napkins, the product is left to dry completely. If desired, you can dry the bottle with a hairdryer.
After gluing the napkins and drying, we take acrylic finger paints and select some elements along the contour. For example, if you want a tree, balls or stars to be larger, circle them carefully several times. Tip: it is advisable to make decoupage of bottles for the New Year using sparkle paints, so your gift items will be more elegant and bright.
After applying the paint, let the workpiece dry. Your craft is almost ready. Now it remains to decorate the empty spaces. You can apply paint that matches the tone of the pattern on the napkin. After the paint dries, you can add a decorative element to the bottle - a crystal paste imitating sparkling snow, and also emphasize the details of the picture with contour and glitter. After that, we cover the product with varnish, and it is desirable to apply 6 or more layers of varnish. Tip: so that the paint does not stain the napkin, you should first cover the painted part of the bottle, and then the part with the pattern. After that, it will be possible to varnish the entire product.
