Where is Spindleruv Mlyn located

The Czech Republic is basically a flat country. But there are amazing mountains in it called the Giant Mountains. They are located in the north of the country, in the upper reaches of the Elbe, not far from Germany and near the Czech-Polish border. The Krkonoše’s second name is “Giant Mountains”. The Germans call this array Ryubetsal. This word, like the Krkonoš, means in folklore of the local inhabitants an evil spirit that lives in the mountains and causes bad weather. But against Ryubezal now there is a hydrometeocenter. Watch the weather forecast carefully and everything will be fine.

Resort History

Spindleruv Mlyn was formed later than the neighboring settlements. For example, Swati Peter is known as a temporary and then permanent camp for ore and silver miners since the beginning of the sixteenth century. Mlyn in Czech means "mill". At the end of the eighteenth century, it belonged to a certain Silesian German named Spindler. Gradually, buildings began to appear around the mill - the forester’s house, summer people, and then the shepherds' permanent huts. But these places would have remained half lived, if not for the fashion for mountaineering. Already in the middle of the nineteenth century, rich people drove enormously to Spindleruv Mlyn to breathe healing air. Chalets and villas began to grow like mushrooms after rain. In 1922, Franz Kafka also came here . In Spindleruv Mlyn, he began to write his novel The Castle. The resort reached a peak of popularity with the advent of skiing fashion.
