Quilling is an amazing art of paper rolling, due to which there is a transformation of simple material into unusual crafts. Using this folding of narrow colored stripes into intricate spirals, you can get a variety of crafts. This article presents a simple and at the same time original quilling-heart workshop. Also given are two alternative options for making paper creations on a given topic.
Quilling heart craft options
Crafts from paper with a touch of romance can be created in several ways:
- the formation of the minimum size of the product from individual strips;
- creating a flat craft by filling small workpieces with a limited space contour;
- creating a figurative “heart” pattern from structural elements of various types by laying out along the contour;
- decoration with small quilling details of a three-dimensional thematic layout.
To obtain all of these products, as a rule, folded strips of paper are glued to any base. It is allowed to create separate structures in which the workpieces are connected only among themselves. Usually in this way are made, for example, various pendants and key rings.
Materials for making crafts
Before you begin the process of creating crafts, you should prepare everything you need to apply the quilling technique. The heart will consist of an external restrictive contour of a long paper strip and many small rolled blanks of various configurations. Prepare the following materials for work:
- special paper for quilling (you can use ordinary color, painted on both sides);
- white or color base;
- a tool for quilling (a thin wand or a toothpick is quite suitable);
- PVA glue;
- scissors;
- ruler;
- a simple pencil.
Colored paper is best used with medium density. Spread whole sheets lengthwise into equal strips 0.7-1.2 cm wide, and then cut them.
Composition
For various crafts, quilling can be used. The heart is one of many interesting ideas. Using the example of this master class, you can easily create other volume applications from paper in the form of a flower, animal, etc. So, let's get to work:
1. Form the outline of the heart. To do this, glue a long strip (at least 12 cm) into a circle and bend in two places to create the desired image.
2. From paper ribbons, twist the spirals, tightly winding them around a toothpick. It is important to carefully hold the base of the strip at the beginning of winding, and then evenly stretch and form a flat part. Remove the stick from the middle and let the workpiece slightly loosen by adjusting the density.
3. By bending in certain places you can get different designs - boats, petals, ovals, etc. The twisting of the strips can be carried out in a different direction.
4. To create quilling colors, divide the strip into several parts using the ruler (according to the number of petals). Fold the boundaries between them. Then, each of the small segments spiral into a spiral to obtain a bulge. In the middle of the flower, set a tightly twisted blank. Glue the structure.
5. Having made many different elements, fill them with the outline established on the base. Glue the parts to the side wall, to the base and between each other.
How to make a quilling heart in a single piece?
In addition to large compositions filled with twisted blanks, you can make small crafts. For this, the desired ornament is immediately formed from a paper strip. Roll the ribbon of the desired color in half. Then twist each of the ends into a tight circle towards each other. From the resulting part, form a small heart, placing it with a sharp middle end down, squeezing it a little for clarity. Point the two spirals, bringing them together. Such a small quilling heart can successfully decorate, for example, a thematic gift card. Make them in several copies and create an interesting composition.

A quilling heart can be made not only in the form of a flat craft. Consider one of the options for using small paper blanks to decorate a volumetric layout. This will require a lightweight foam base in the shape of a heart. First fasten the hanging rope on top.
