What is creativity? And how to develop it?

We hear this word more and more often. Often in the resume you can find the wording: "creative and original." Not yet to the end, but we know how this affects the perception of our potential employer. However, in reality, what is creativity? And with what do they eat it?

what is creativity
According to the dictionary, creativity is "the creation of something new and original." Expanding and complementing the definition of what creativity is, it can be argued that it is "a mental process, an activity that entails the creation of new ideas, concepts, or new associations, interconnections with existing ideas and concepts." Creative thinking leads to truly innovative and effective solutions. Many people believe that the term "creativity" defines what creativity is in the full sense. This, in essence, is simply the ability to create something new.

What is the difference between a person who is considered creative and everyone else?
creative resumes
In his work, "Creativity, Creativity, or Permanent Violation?" psychologists dealing with this issue indicate that in many countries the word "creative" is used ("Creatifs", "creative", "Creativo"). It is from the point of view of creative expression and creativity.

However, the basic concepts cannot be confused. There are significant differences between creativity and creativity. What is creativity? This is a function that can characterize both a creative person and an object of her efforts (new movie posters, for example, are creative). While creativity is rather a process, a kind of phenomenon, a promise, while a specific work is usually associated with certain decisions.

It often happens that we indicate character traits in a resume just because it is required. It is not surprising that this will matter both for our work and for our employers. Even if it seems to us that we are creative people, we submit creative resumes, in fact, this may be far from the case. There is an unspoken principle: the more you try, the worse you look. Therefore, one should think very well about how and in what form to present our creative abilities to the employer. What is creativity in understanding a potential chef? This ability to think outside the box, to find a way out of a difficult situation, improvisation in the search for new solutions to old problems.

creative flash drives
The employer will demand from you interesting offers to solve the problem and the ability to quickly cope with a difficult situation. Therefore, when compiling a resume, do not overdo it. It is one thing when you present yourself as a person of a free profession (designer, copywriter, journalist). In this case, everything is appropriate: creative flash drives at a business meeting, a non-standard resume, a fun site that was created contrary to all the templates. But itโ€™s another matter if you get a job as a mid-level manager or even just an ordinary employee in a government agency. Here, your resume will be viewed by employees of the human resources department, who can be very far from the flight of thought and simply reject any "oddities" without indicating a reason.

Nevertheless, it is always worth mentioning that you can create new works (let it be a program or a project), improve the process and procedures. Generally speaking, all your experience, which speaks of "improving" any indicators, will be perceived positively. The employer will require you to increase the effectiveness of certain measures, create new texts, projects, ideas, and elaborate details. Therefore, he does not need to explain what creativity is - he knows what will help him achieve the prosperity of the enterprise.

There are a number of ways to develop a creative approach. For example, random input. Select the main element that identifies the problem, and then find completely random examples, a few words from the dictionary. Next, we will consider the relationship between them. This exercise helps a lot to activate thinking outside the box. Using a reverse brainstorming allows you to replace certain tasks with opposite inverse ones - when we reject the next version, we thereby determine what is most important to us.

Another technique is slow gradual recording. For example, for a certain period of time (30 minutes, 1 hour), we write on a piece of paper only our ideas related to the task, without thinking about whether they are reasonable or not. Do not analyze. This approach to finding solutions is widely used in the psychology of success.
