Background

The prototype and the main central part of the pedestrian crossing across the Moscow River, connecting Pushkinskaya and Frunzenskaya embankments, is the old Andreevsky bridge. He served Muscovites faithfully from the very beginning of the twentieth century and served as a link for the small ring of the Moscow Railway on the section between the Kanatchikova and Vorobyovy Gory stations.

The Andreevsky Bridge was built in 1905-1907 under the leadership of Proskuryakov Lavr Dmitrievich, the greatest Russian bridge engineer and modernist architect Pomerantsev Alexander Nikolaevich.

Until 1917, the St. Andrew's Bridge was called Sergievsky in honor of the Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich. In 1956, both bridges were reconstructed according to the project of the Soviet historian, architect and engineer - bridge builder Nadezhin Boris Mikhailovich.

Construction

The Pushkin Bridge, which connected the Central Park of Culture and Neskuchny Garden, was erected in 1999. The project of the new bridge was completed by well-known metropolitan architects: Platonov Yu.P. and Melaniev D.A. The most difficult stage in the construction was the transfer using the barges of the central part of the Andreevsky bridge, which weighed 1.5 thousand tons. She was transported to a new place, located one and a half kilometers downstream, and then it was decided to name the new bridge Pushkinsky by the name of the embankment.

What is interesting Pushkin (St. Andrew) bridge

In the warm season, this building turns into a dangerous attraction. As already mentioned, in the central part of the Pushkin bridge is decorated with a huge arch. Since it is easy to get there, young people climb on it and sit, dangling their legs and admiring the magnificent views of the river and the city center. Such an extreme pastime seems attractive to many, although it can end very badly.

Since the bridge is heated, in winter it is a great place to enjoy the snow-covered streets of the city while warm. Kinds

Of course, the main attraction that can be seen by visiting the Pushkin Bridge (how to get, see above) is the Moscow River itself. Due to the fact that it is navigable, you can see various vessels on it, from large to small. In addition, piers are located on both sides of the main waterway of Moscow.

It is recommended to start a walk from Frunze Embankment. Climbing the Pushkin bridge, you will admire the panorama of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the Sparrow Hills, the University and the new building of the Academy of Sciences. By the way, many find a certain similarity between the architectural appearance of the crossing and the last structure.

Andreevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1648, is also visible from the bridge. Although its surviving structures were built somewhat later, they are also of great interest.
