Many fans of the games of the STALKER series, as well as books written based on this universe, have the Freon sign - a stalker invented by writer Sergey Klochkov. Experienced, cold-blooded, but at the same time very noble, despite all the troubles that fell to his lot, he earned a good reputation among fans of books.
What books appears
Sergey Klochkov wrote three books in which Freon appears. In some, he is mentioned only briefly, while in others he is the main character.
For example, in the novel Lun, Freon is mentioned as a visitor to a bar, who is a good friend of the protagonist.
But in the book "Freon" he, as the name implies, comes to the fore. Here he risks his life, loses satellites to get to the main goal - the Monolith. And he does not want wealth, immortality or world domination. No, in fact, his main desire is much more modest - he wants to free his good friends who were captured by this mysterious artifact.
Finally, in the third book, The Gift of the Monolith, Freon frees his friends, but after a long stay in captivity with the Monolith, they quarrel. Frustrated by this, the protagonist becomes depressed, but calms down after Hip and Lun reunite.

The biography of Freon before his arrival in the Zone, as well as during his stay here, is spelled out pretty well. Thanks to this, the stalker Freon received quite good reviews from readers - many sympathized with him.
Before becoming a stalker, he worked at a factory. But once his life went downhill. First, his wife abandoned him, leaving one to raise a little daughter. And soon at the chemical plant where Freon worked (then still Grigory Efremov), an accident occurred, due to which his daughter was poisoned and died.
Seeing no point in later life, Gregory killed his wife with her lover, and then went into the zone, becoming the stalker Freon.
