Very soon, a holiday and a string of New Year's morning performances in kindergartens and schools. All mothers have certainly prepared dresses for little fashionistas. They can be complemented by elegant Japanese-style hair ornaments. Making Christmas rims with your own hands is not so difficult.
What is kanzashi?
These intricate hair ornaments came to us from Japan and have a long history. Classic kanzashi (kanzashi) are made from natural materials. Wood, metals, tortoise shell, stones, pearls, and, of course, natural silk are used. Each element carries a special meaning. Previously, this decoration was used to determine the age, wealth and status of a lady. Nowadays, Kanzash often complement the traditional outfit of the bride. In addition, these are traditional geisha head accessories. In each month, the wearing of certain plants and flowers is strictly observed. There is even a special kanzashi calendar.
In accordance with it, priestesses of love adorn their intricate hairstyles.
But outside of Japan, there is no deep meaning in wearing kanzashi. In a broad sense, this is the name for a variety of head jewelry using satin ribbons or shreds. Fancy herbal compositions are made from them, for example, sakura flowers, chrysanthemums, leaves and much more. We will try to make Christmas rims on our own in this style.
Bezel "Snowflake"
Necessary materials:
- plastic rim (color unimportant);
- satin ribbon of silver and white color - 2, 5 cm, 4 cm and 5 cm;
- large bead (in the middle of a snowflake);
- lighter, tweezers, glue.
To make a Christmas rim from satin ribbons, we first take the blank, fasten the end of the ribbon obliquely with a clothespin and begin to wrap the base in alternating white and silver colors. The ends of the fabric are gently bent and fixed with glue. The result is a zigzag pattern.
Kanzashi snowflake
To do this, we cut 4 x 4 cm squares from ribbons of both colors, and 5 x 5 cm squares from a white tape 5 cm wide. We may need tweezers. We bend the white square diagonally two times, singe the edge with a lighter. The result is such a triangle.
We do the same with the remaining pieces of tape. The next operation is to collect the petal. We put the layers in turn: a small white triangle, silver, we turn the corners and singe a lighter for fixing. On top of the silver we put a large white and repeat the operation. Having thus made six rays of snowflakes, we connect them with glue. The first element for the New Year's rim of kanzashi turned out.
We make the following row of six petals in the same way. We wrap three small silver triangles for each, wrap them in one large white one. Do not forget to singe the edges of the fabric every time so that the work is neat and the threads do not stick out. We glue the blanks in a checkerboard pattern between the petals of a snowflake. We make 12 small white petals and fill them in the space between the large, inserting two.
The third element is a twig. For each you need to make 3 small silver triangles and one large white one. Next, make a petal. It should be silver inside and white outside. To it we attach two sides, made of the remaining silver ones. Glue each twig into a snowflake between two small white petals.
Our snowflake is ready!
We close the hole in the middle with the help of the prepared rhinestone and glue the product to the rim. Beauty! You can run to the mirror! A rich imagination will help to create such magical Christmas headbands in different variations. We will consider some of them here.
The Crown of the Snow Queen
The next New Year rim (kanzashi) we will try to arrange in the form of a crown. Necessary materials:
- white and silver ribbon 6 mm, 4 cm and 5 cm wide .;
- bezel;
- beautiful pearl beads;
- lighter, glue.
Weave braid from white and silver tape 6 mm wide. Glue it along the length of the rim, fix the ends with glue.
Crown Elements Collection
All the basic elements of the Christmas rims with their own hands are made in the familiar technique. Cut squares from ribbons: white - 5 x 5cm; silver - 4 x 4 cm. We take squares of two colors, each of them is folded diagonally in half and we fasten the end of the fabric, fusing it with a lighter. We put the silver triangle inside the white one and fold it in exactly the same way as in the previous work. Each of them needs to be turned over, trimmed a little to get about such blanks.
From them we collect and glue three five-leafed flowers and two three-leafed. This is the bottom row of the crown. In the center of the composition are three five-leafed leaves, along the edges are two shamrocks. Next, add three more petals to the three central elements. So the crown will look more voluminous.
We glue the beads (preferably under the pearls) in the middle of the flowers. Here is such a New Year’s rim for the Snow Maiden, or the Snow Queen, we did.
New Year rim "Fir-tree"
This option is perhaps the most spectacular. For work, we need:
- tape of light and dark green, gold, red colors 6 mm, 4 cm and 5 cm wide;
- felt for decorative creativity of green color;
- large rhinestones - for decoration;
- all other consumables - similar to previous work.
We weave braid from a green ribbon 6 mm wide, glue it to the rim along the entire length, fix the ends. In the center we make several skeins with a wide ribbon of the same color - where the Christmas tree itself will be attached to strengthen the composition.
Christmas tree making
Sharp leaflets for branches are made in the familiar technique. Squares from the tape are folded twice in half diagonally, the corner of the connection is cauterized by fire. Next, the elements are added to the petal in the following order (from the inside):
- dark green, 4 x 4 cm;
- light green, 4 x 4 cm;
- dark green, 5 x 5 cm.
Do not forget to cut the back side of each leaf and gently fuse it with a lighter. In total, twigs should turn out 24. Next, in a similar way, we produce five leaves for the "star". Here the sequence of connecting elements is (from the inside):
- red, 4 x 4 cm;
- gold, 4 x 4 cm;
- red, 5 x 5 cm.
Usually, New Year rims are used very actively during the holidays. For greater reliability and stability, it is better to glue the composition onto a base, for example, from felt. We begin to collect the Christmas tree. Glue five red and three green leaves. This is the top with a star. Next, attach the second row from the bottom - four branches. The third is six, the fourth, the last is seven. Each row must be made semicircular, i.e. the shape of the rim. The remaining elements are glued into empty spaces on the sides of the Christmas tree. We stick the finished figure first on a felt base, and then on the rim.
Last of all, we decorate our Christmas tree with rhinestones: we glue the red one on the star, and we decorate the rest (in different colors) in the form of Christmas toys or garlands. You can also decorate the felt inside of the work.
On New Year’s Eve, December parties can be made with children - it will give them great pleasure!
