The game life simulator “Sims” has been pleasing us for over fifteen years, six of which fell on the most popular and diverse part - “Sims 3”. But the world is changing, computer games are improving, and the Sims are no exception. In September 2014, the world was presented the fourth part of one of the most famous games. We suggest you familiarize yourself with what it is, as well as what additional materials exist for Sims 4 and how to install them.
About Sims 4
As before, the player controls the character’s life, creates his story and family tree. Only now can you create a hero with even more subtle details. In the new game, you can even choose a character’s height! Also added more opportunities for interaction with the virtual world, the hero has better expressed emotions and much more, which makes the game process even more interesting.
Of course, such a variety of add-ons (additions) as the "Sims 3" (there were twenty of them in total), the "Sims 4" has not yet. Fans of the game today can be satisfied with only a few directories:
- "To work";
- “Camping”;
- "Luxurious party";
- "Patio".
But it is possible to install additional materials in “Sims 4”. They can be found in the released updates and other user resources.
The Sims 4: Updates
Between September 2, 2014 and April 13, 2015, 16 official updates were released for Sims 4. The latest version is 1.5.149.1020 (for PC).
The main function of updates is to correct mistakes and failures, as well as add some new items to the game.
Here is a short list of what the developers have already managed to fix:
1. Construction mode:
- fences are no longer considered rooms;
- when the height of the foundation is changed, objects do not move into the baggage of the family;
- Pools became available, and they can be built both on the street and on any floor of the house.
2. Characters:
- some items to which the admission was closed upon restarting the game are again available;
- the number of alien abductions is reduced;
- Characters no longer move through the air
- the process of interactions between characters has been established;
- characters no longer disappear;
- fixed bugs related to babies.
3. Other points:
- the action "Write a book" no longer causes a game error;
- the game has become more believable;
- improved performance;
- Saves from past updates are restarted in new ones;
- added a family tree that displays the story of 10 generations.
Sims 4: Additional Updates
In 16 updates of this game, the developers pleased the players not only with bug fixes, but also with the addition of new items and characters. For example, the following was added:
- small sculptures of gnomes “Mysterious”, “Chilling soul”, “Serious business”, “Mr. Floppy”, “Fundamentals of Nude”.
- ghosts (more functional than in The Sims 3);
- new costumes in the style of "Star Wars", "Valentine's Day", others;
- new shades for eye color;
- swimming suits are available: swimwear and swimming trunks;
- new careers are available: athlete, businessman,
- new types of achievements are available for adult characters, ghosts, teenagers;
- new sets are offered, for example, packages with seeds of fruits and plants, "Camping" and so on.
In addition to things from the updates, additional materials from other sources are also available to the Sims 4 players. For example, on the sites of fans of the simulator you can find many unique houses, outfits, decor, hairstyles, as well as the characters themselves.
Installation of additional materials
As for Sims 3, plots, decorations, clothes for Sims 4 are most often created in the Package format. Additional materials for this extension are installed as follows:
- if the downloaded add-ons are in the archive, then open it;
- open the / Mods folder (default path / EA / The Sims 4 / Mods);
- move unzipped additional materials to an open folder.
