They wrote mainly about the life of Soviet people, the same as themselves. And life has changed a lot, there is no longer that state, there are not many realities of that time, over the past years a new generation has grown up, knowing about what was before, only by hearsay. But it is so interesting how it all happened: how parents, grandparents lived, what was different and what remained unchanged. Biography

The writer Markov George Mokeevich was born in 1911 in the village of Novo-Kuskovo, which is located in the Tomsk region. Markov's father was a hunter, his mother a peasant. From childhood, the future author of works on the life of ordinary Siberians saw all the ins and outs of her: starvation poverty, and heavy debilitating work, but there were, of course, in the village life and their joys, George Mokeevich also wrote about them. For example, in the children's magazine "Comrade", whose editor worked until 1941. When the war began, he became a war correspondent, was a member of the Transbaikal Front. In 1943 he joined the Writers Union. After demobilization in the rank of major, the writer Markov lived for a long time in his homeland and only in 1956 moved to Moscow. In the capital, he took up politics, moreover, quite successfully - he achieved high posts, for example, for several years he was a deputy of the Council of the Union of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR from the city of Moscow. The writer Markov was awarded a considerable number of prizes and awards. So, he became a laureate of the Stalin and Lenin Prizes, twice he was awarded the honorary title of Hero of Socialist Labor. In addition to other awards awarded to the author in the Soviet Union, Markov also won international prizes, for example, the Lotus Prize and the Bulgarian Grand Literary Prize Sofia.

The writer Markov is the author of several novels and short stories, a considerable number of stories and journalistic essays, two plays that are devoted both to the life of the Soviet people in peacetime and to the military exploits of soldiers. And one of his most famous works, the Strogov novel, tells of how ordinary people lived in the Siberian hinterland in revolutionary times, how the war influenced their fates, how their lives changed during great historical events. The novel turned out to be so successful that later Markov wrote the book โ€œThe Salt of the Earthโ€, and then another work, โ€œThe Coming Century,โ€ which continues the story of the heroes.

Adaptations

Loved the works of Markov, not only readers, but also lovers of movies and TV shows. Many of the authorโ€™s novels were filmed by the most famous directors of the time. For example, the eight-episode film "Strogov" in 1976 even received a diploma from the VII All-Union Festival of Television Films. Such popular Soviet actors as Boris Borisov (in the role of Matvey Zakharovich Strogov), Lyudmila Zaitseva (played Anna Strogova), Lyudmila Gurchenko (revolutionary Kapitolina), and many others starred in the series. After the continuation of the novel was published, his film version was also shot by order of the State Radio and Television.

The death of a writer

Georgy Mokeevich Markov died in 1991 in the eighty-first year of life due to a long illness. The writer was buried in Moscow at the Troekurovsky cemetery. In memory of the author, in his small homeland - in the village of Novo-Kuskovo - his bust was installed in 2012, and in the city of Irkutsk, the author was recognized as an honorary citizen, there is a memorial plaque in his honor. Regularly in Tomsk, Irkutsk and even in Moscow there are literary meetings and readings dedicated to George Markov.

The work of the father continues one of the daughters. Olga Markova became a writer, while the second daughter of the author still (she is already over seventy years old) plays in the theater.
