Probably everyone who encounters stripes for the first time is wondering how to sew a chevron properly. This is not so difficult to do. There are several ways that tell how to sew a chevron. The simplest and most effective of them are described below:
1. Using a thread and a needle.
The most common and reliable way.
2. Using Velcro (Velcro tape).
This method is very convenient when you often have to change stripes.
3. Using hot melt adhesive.
It can be attached both to an already finished product, and to a pattern. But this requires a thermal press. If you use only the iron, then the mount will be short-lived.
Often questions arise about where to sew the chevron. Usually it is sewn onto the shoulder so that the surface is completely adjacent to the clothes and does not hang from it.
How to sew a chevron
There are several techniques for sewing chevrons, you can try them all, or you can choose one - you like.
1. Manually.
First you need to stock up with the necessary materials: pins, scissors, chalk. As a rule, chevrons are already ready for sewing. They have edging and are thermally treated to prevent tissue shedding. If for some reason there is no edging, then we cut off the edges of the matter, leaving a margin for the hem. This is necessary so that in the future the chevron has an aesthetic appearance. Then we process the curved edges of the fabric with a finished iron. Everything, the patch is ready for sewing. We apply the finished patch to the right place, fasten it with pins and begin to bast. When the basting is done, you should try on clothes to eliminate defects, if any. If everything is in order, then we sew the chevron tightly. After sewing is completed, the patch can be sprinkled with water and ironed so that it looks more organic on clothes.
2. By a half-machine method.
Another good tip is how to sew a chevron. For work, you will need the same tools as with the manual method. Only a sewing machine will be added to them. A similar way is carried out and the preliminary preparation of the chevron.
Next, we outline the beginning and end of the line with the help of chalk. Attach the chevron with the back side. Then you should bend the patch and sew it by hand. With this method, the seam remains invisible.
3. By machine.
The tools are again the same. But during the preparation should leave a little more tissue. 1-2 mm will be enough. These remaining millimeters also serve as a place for a seam, moreover, the seam should be zigzag. At the same time, the useful part of the patch will be visible and not affected by the machine line.

But it can be fixed on fabric in other ways. If you use hot-melt glue, you need to apply the iron very carefully and hold it until the glue penetrates the fabric and the patch adheres to it. Using velcro tape, you can glue the patch as many times as you like until the adhesive coating loses all its properties. To do this, just detach the protective strip and press the chevron to the fabric.
