The very appearance of these grandiose constructions is due not only to the technical capabilities of ancient people, their architectural art, but also to developed religious and mythological views. Moreover, the Egyptians deified and
own rulers. Pharaohs were considered the heirs and messengers of the gods.
Ancient Egyptian temples, put in recognition by sovereigns of different years, at one time filled the territory of the whole country. Some of the most famous such structures will be discussed in this article.
Egyptian Temple of Pharaoh Ramses
He stands today under the scorching southern sun. The sanctuary is located northwest of another temple set up in honor of Seti I. By the way, another Egyptian temple, once set up by Ramses II, was once located near this sanctuary . However, the latter has not survived to this day. Now you can only find millennial ruins there. The Egyptian temple of Ramses II is generously strewn with drawings and hieroglyphics located throughout the square
its walls. Together they form a peculiar intricate pattern. Thanks to these inscriptions, modern scholars have learned about the grandiose battle of the Egyptians with the Hittites at the Cadet, in which the 20,000th army led by Ramses opposed twice the strength of the Hittite king Mutavali.
The masonry of this structure was not completely preserved, but only two meters high. However, the scheme of a rather large yard is still traced. It is surrounded by a colonnade of pillars and figures of Osiris. In addition to the courtyard, this Egyptian temple has two rooms and many auxiliary rooms. Judging by everything that remains today, the structure was the most carefully constructed and luxurious than any other building in the entire era of the rule of Ramses II (1279-1213 BC). The building material for the sanctuary was fine limestone and red-black granite for doorways. As well as sandstone for columns and gypsum, from which the internal decoration of the walls was created.
Karnak Temple
This building today is the largest religious structure in the world. The sanctuary is one of the most ancient Egyptian structures. It
was built in honor of the moon god Khonsu, depicted in the form of a figure of a mummified baby, sometimes possessing the head of a falcon. At the time of its inception, it was located in the administrative capital of the state. Its construction began during the reign of Amenhotep III, and was completed only by the pharaohs of the XX dynasty.
Egyptian Temple of Hatshepsut
It was erected in honor of Queen Hatshepsut near the city of Thebes. In ancient times, it was of amazing beauty, decorated with many terraces of the temple. Partially, it is cut into the mountain. Its width is almost forty meters. The rows of colonnades of the sanctuary are somewhat reminiscent of a honeycomb. Interestingly, this structure was built in a fairly quick time: for nine years (1482 BC - 1473 BC).
