Crane beams: what you need to know?

Crane beams are needed for the operation of lifting equipment. They must be as reliable and durable as possible. Reinforced concrete crane beams are mounted on the column heads of the production building, but can also be suspended from the trusses.

Reinforced concrete crane cranes are used in heated and unheated production rooms with a reinforced concrete frame and spans of 18 and 24 m for the installation of conventional bridge cranes operating in light and medium gravity with a lifting capacity of up to 32 tons. They can also be used on racks located in the open air. These structures can withstand seismic shocks up to 9 points. They are made of T-section concrete with a span length of 6 m and an I-section for spans 12 m long. Their reinforcement in the longitudinal direction is made of steel with a diameter of 14–25 mm, and in the transverse direction, non-tensile reinforcement in the longitudinal direction can be steel and have a diameter of 6 –18 mm.

Mounting

Mount them directly from vehicles. The installation team should consist of at least five people.

Before installation, the products are laid out on special wooden linings along the longitudinal axis of the columns of the building using a jib crane. Crane beams 6 m long are installed in the required position with a conventional traverse with hooks (if the object is longer, then a traverse with tick-shaped grippers is used). During the ascent, it is held by special guy wires to avoid hitting the columns of the building. Then the beam is aligned in height and in plan with a jack. Gaskets of the required thickness are installed, which are then fixed with anchor bolts. First, the fastening is carried out temporarily, then a geodetic alignment is made and only after that the structure is finally fixed.

Steel structures

Crane beams made of steel, made by welding, the length of which is 6 and 12 m, in cross section are I-beams. They are made up of three sheets. Such structures are installed on columns of buildings made of metal or reinforced concrete, as well as on columns of flyovers in the open air. They withstand frosts down to -65 Β° and seismic impacts up to 9 points (inclusive).

On such crane beams, ordinary bridge electric cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 50 tons are installed, designed to perform medium and heavy duty work. Metal crane beams are made of two types: ordinary and end, which are adjacent to the ends of buildings and temperature joints. The steel from which they are made is welded structural from C29 to C44. Butt welds should be fully welded (no voids). They are primed and painted. These structures must be labeled. The marking shall indicate the order number, drawing number, beam symbol and serial number of manufacture. Products must be delivered complete with mounting gaskets in an amount equal to the number of received designs. Mandatory is the application of technical documentation.
