Bent profiles. Characteristics and modern construction technologies

Bent profiles are perhaps the largest group among products manufactured by metal rolling. They are made according to three main technologies:

  • using special stamps;
  • using special roll forming equipment;
  • by pulling through roller dies.

Advantages

bent profiles

Thanks to modern and high-tech equipment, enterprises can produce profiles from various metals and alloys of almost any given shape, size and section. This requires compliance with dimensional accuracy, rigidity, surface quality and metal economy. Bent profiles have another indisputable advantage - accessibility and ease of processing. They are easy to weld, perforate, as well as applying various coatings and paints to them.

Application

bent guest profile

Widespread use in the construction of thin-walled structures makes products from a bent profile extremely popular. In addition, they are widely used in other sectors - engineering, the production of household goods, construction, etc.

Bent profiles are available in two main versions: in the form of channels and corners. Their basis is a special metal billet made of sheet steel, which is given a given shape with the help of roll forming equipment. One of the most popular in this area is a curved square profile.

Its great popularity is based on several indisputable advantages, including the low weight of such products, their low cost, simplicity and reliability of nodal joints, the minimum number of seams, the aesthetic appearance of metal structures and, no less important, insignificant resistance to wind loads.

Strict compliance with GOST

Bent profiles are made in accordance with established state standards, approved in February 1995 by a special decree of the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation. These standards are both interstate and apply to the CIS countries. Square profiles are no exception. Specially designed for them a bent profile - GOST 30245.

Production technology

Square tubes are produced on specialized rolling mills from carbon and low alloy steels. First, an ordinary pipe of circular cross section is obtained, which then, after being crimped in the rolls, acquires a square cross section. The continuity of the process is ensured by butt welding between rolls. If defects are found, they are removed by manual or automatic welding, using special additives and welding materials. The standard length of the produced square tubes is 6 and 12 meters.

The main area of application of square metal profiles is steel building structures of structures and buildings. In particular, they are used in the construction of industrial buildings, one-story industrial buildings, exhibition halls, shopping and entertainment complexes, storage facilities, sports facilities, etc.
