Plot

There is a holiday in the village. On such an occasion, people are presented with a marvelous wonder - a squirrel in a wheel, she runs tirelessly all day. The thrush watched the same miracle, and since he and the squirrel speak the same language, he asked her what she was doing and what she was doing. Squirrel with an important look answered that she serves as a messenger with a large master. And every day she has so many things to do that even there is no time to eat and drink. "It can be seen," thought the thrush, "run-run, and everything is in the same place." And with these words he flew away from the scene.

Morality

Typically, morality is presented to the reader by Krylov right here in the poem. In our case, according to the author, the work definitely hits those businessmen who create a kind of violent and violent activity in front of themselves and those around them, but there is no practical sense in their movements, and they look very much like a squirrel in a wheel. Such is the moral of Krylov’s fable “Squirrel”.

Is the moral of the fable relevant today?

In general, it must be said that a fable as a literary form, as a defined genre, along with a parable or a fairy tale, is aging more slowly than anyone. And all because morality, together with the mockery mounted inside it, is aimed at eternal human vices. If we specifically analyze the work “Squirrel” (fable) by Krylov, we will see that it is not too important what meaning the author himself put into the composition. More importantly, it demonstrates on its own. The fable is haunted by excessive self-conceit of a person about himself and his work.

Now that all people in Russia, no matter what they do, call themselves managers, the morality of the work “Squirrel” (Krylov’s fable) becomes extremely topical. And it’s not even that there is nothing to respect for people of ordinary professions — a seller or a cleaner — for nothing, not at all. “All professions are important, all professions are needed.” The problem is that it gives rise to false conceit, which ultimately harms the most to the person who suffers.

What is the danger of exaggerating your own value?

First of all, by the fact that it closes a person’s path to development both in a personal and in a professional sense. The main thing is not what a person has achieved, but what he thinks about it. Of course, in this sense, everything is individual, and each has its own capabilities and peaks, but a person should always squeeze the maximum out of himself. And he is obliged to do this not for someone, but first of all for himself, for there is nothing sadder in life than wasted talent or unrealized opportunities. It is precisely this conclusion that leads us to the analysis of the work “The Squirrel” (Krylov’s fable). Ivan Andreevich also insists that people should not be especially arrogant and wasting time in vain.
