Plasticine is a very fertile material for children's creativity. With it, you can create volumetric sculptures, flat paintings and flat-volume applications. A child of even a preschool age can easily cope with one of them. Its production does not require a lot of time, material and effort. The main thing is to be patient and be careful.

How to prepare for work

You will need a stack - a special shovel, which the sculptor uses when sculpting. Sometimes they use a knife, a toothpick, a wire instead. As a result, each artist dwells on his special tools.
For the upcoming work on a plasticine lion, it will be better if there is a lining board. It can be made independently from a piece of linoleum, or purchased. You just need to remember that working on an oilcloth is not convenient, since it will stick to plasticine, drag along and wrap it.

We sculpt a lion from plasticine in stages

Step 1
Prepare a contrasting background (color cardboard).
Step 2
We’ll draw a rough sketch (outline the position of the head and body).
Step 3
We roll out long flagella from plasticine:
- orange (for the head and body of a lion from plasticine);
- yellow (for mane and tail);
- brown (for paws and cheeks).
We blind five cakes:
- two black ones for the eye;
- two white ones (smaller) - for the pupils;
- one more black - for the nose.
Step 4
From flagella we make blanks for future applications.
- Twist the round head.
- Sculpt oval paws.
- Twist round cheeks.
- We form the body of a lion from plasticine in the form of a spring expanding downward (the tail is a continuation of the flagellum of the body).
- With a ladder, we bend the flagellum for mane and place it in an arc around the head.
Step 5
Transfer the blanks to the cardboard of the background and slightly press down.
We decorate the tail brush with three small pieces of a brown flagellum.
Step 6
The base with the application applied on it can be inserted into a beautiful frame.
