A natural circulation heating system is used quite often today both in private houses and in apartments. The water cycle in them occurs due to the temperature difference. Heated and cold liquids have different weights and densities. Convection of water in the system mainly depends on the difference in height between the radiators and the boiler, as well as on the indicator of the temperature difference.
In order to prevent the heating ring from being torn apart by the increased volume of heated liquid, it is equipped with an expansion tank, which is installed at the highest point in the house. However, because of it, it is necessary to pour water into the pipes more often. A natural circulation heating system usually runs on a solid fuel boiler.
There is an opinion that it is not worth filling the pipes with ordinary water, since it provokes rusting and corrosion of the metal, and also leaves limescale on the walls of the radiators. In order for the liquid to not stagnate in the batteries, the system can be equipped with a circulation pump. If scale is still formed on the pipes, it should be washed using special means.
A natural circulation heating system can work more efficiently if a diaphragm is installed instead of an expansion tank . He is closed. However, it can only be installed if the main heat source (boiler) runs on liquid fuel or gas.
In order to make the house comfortable, the calculation of the heating system with
natural circulation must be done correctly. At the same time, heat engineering and hydraulic characteristics, as well as
hot water supply and surface heating, which helps to choose the right equipment, should be taken into account.
Recently, systems with a single pipe, which can be connected to the radiator below or above, have become popular. All devices in this case are installed in series.
Natural circulation single pipe heating systems have the following advantages:
- quickly mounted;
- are cheaper than other types of systems;
- look aesthetically pleasing;
- do not require a large amount of equipment and supplies.
However, there are drawbacks: radiators must have a large number of sections, heated floors and heated towel rails become ineffective, there is a need for increased pressure of the coolant. Therefore, often such systems are additionally equipped with
circulation pumps. Today, this type of heating can be improved with the help of various
thermostatic valves, ball valves, radiator regulators.
This heating system with natural circulation can be horizontal and vertical. In any case, the pipe should have a large diameter, unless, of course, you will not use the pump. However, the system will depend on electricity, which can suddenly disappear.
So, from all the above, it should be concluded that the heating system presented is very effective, but the pump will not be an unnecessary addition.
