Brick is one of the most durable building materials, but at the same time it is one of the most ancient and serves for the construction of very aesthetic structures. The sizes of one and a half bricks and other types of this building material differ from each other, which allows you to make a choice depending on the required structural strength.
Types and purpose of brick

This building material is considered one of the cheapest among those made from natural raw materials. This is especially true of red bricks made on clay basis. Such a brick is obtained by burning briquettes from pressed clay. The building material itself is divided into white (silicate) and red (clay). As for red brick, it is also subdivided into several categories, depending on the quality of firing: smooth and plain, which is widely used in construction, with fired edges and a middle, which can only be used for foundations and fences. Also, the division is carried out depending on the size of the material. The size of one and a half silicate brick is 88 x 120 x 260 mm, where the values ββcorrespond to height, width and length. This type includes hollow and porous bricks, used for less massive structures. The size of one and a half bricks differs from the dimensions of a full-bodied (65 x 120 x 260 mm). Recently, clay construction material of a new format has appeared - a one and a half hollow brick (dimensions - 103 x 120 x 260 mm). It is used for masonry structures of reduced lightness.

Decorative brick
This is one of the types of this building material, which was also invented recently. It is used in facing masonry. Working with it requires a lot of effort and patience, not only because the facades are built from it and the main surfaces are finished, but also because the material itself is fragile. Its outer walls can be glossy or patterned. With it, you can get a great facial masonry fences or buildings.
Also in recent years, it began to be used as a material for interior wall decoration, which does not require further processing. The size of one and a half bricks for cladding may slightly differ from the sizes of ordinary types of similar materials.
Advantages and disadvantages of this building material in the design
Brick was used as one of the most common and high-quality building materials many years ago. Over time, this tradition began to be forgotten. Despite this, in the past few years he has become fashionable again and at the moment is almost one of the most sought after. Its advantages are that the buildings built of brick are very warm. In addition, this material gives the design an attractive appearance and lightness. Brick is an environmentally friendly material, which today is given a lot of attention. The shape and dimensions of one and a half bricks used in construction can be various: from curved to angular with a rough surface, which greatly simplifies the construction process itself. Brick is the material of the modern generation!
