If you love the magnificent world of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and love to pump your characters to the maximum level, then this article will certainly be useful to you. The game is replete with many ways to pump your character. Of course, you can always find cheat codes for skills in Oblivion, but it’s fun to use bugs and tricks that are hidden inside the game.
What does pumping start with?
We choose our character and his gender. The choice depends on who you want to play, what will be closer to you: melee battles, the use of magic, or do you prefer theft and bow? Of course, the game makes it possible to become a super-character, having accumulated skills of all classes. There are cheats on skills in Oblivion, but their use can often affect the appearance of various bugs and glitches, which will be difficult to eliminate.
We pump warrior
In Oblivion, you need to increase the skill for warriors in such characteristics as strength, endurance, followed by agility, luck and speed. It is worth noting that luck is important to everyone. Thus, for a warrior it is better to choose a strong and hardy race. The best choice would be a male nord, orc or redguard. It should immediately make a reservation regarding gender. The following statement is always true: more feminine traits, such as dexterity and speed, are inherent in women. The male gender is distinguished by its strength and endurance.
You can take a nord if you want to have resistance to cold. Orcs have an excellent Berserk spell, which once a day can make them very strong and tough, but lose a lot of dexterity. Of course, an orc is preferable to those who do not pay attention to the appearance of the hero.
An excellent solution would be to choose a redguard. It has excellent characteristics and excellent skill: once a day, speed, agility, stamina and strength increase by 50 points for 60 seconds. One minute will be enough for you to throw a bunch of things on yourself and run out of the cave or to give a good talk to your enemies.
Guiding star
After you need to choose the constellation that will accompany the hero. Skill levels in Oblivion have the opportunity to increase for quite some time. However, having carefully studied all the characteristics, one can come to the conclusion that the warrior, thief and horse are the most fighting constellations.
A horse gives +20 speed. This is useful for pumping speed, although this is not the most important ability for a warrior.
The Warrior Constellation adds +10 points to strength and stamina. This is a very useful skill.
Thief Constellation adds +10 to agility, luck and speed. Of course, dexterity and speed are not priority skills for a warrior, but luck is very useful! To pump it in the game you need 10 level increases to spend on it. Strength and stamina increases with a level increase of +5 points, and luck only by one.
Think carefully about which constellation will best accompany your hero.
Which class is best suited?
Now we pass to the most important thing - the choice of the class of your character. Initially, you will see a large number of classes in the game: bard, inquisitor, rogue, and so on. Each of them is distinguished by its unique abilities and characteristics. However, we decided to take a warrior, so we choose him.
Skill selection
Now we have the most important thing - to choose the skills that will be considered basic for the character. Leveling skills in "Oblivion" will help you easily fight against hordes of enemies. Basic skills from the very beginning are +25 points higher than others and swing much faster. Do not think that you need to take those skills that you will use most often. It is important to understand the very meaning of getting levels in Oblivion.
For example, you raised your basic skills by a total of 10 points. It would seem great, but there is one thing. Each attribute, for example, as strength or endurance, corresponds to three more skills. For example, hand-to-hand combat, blades and blunt weapons are suitable. Got to blades + 10 or to blades + 5 and to melee +5, or to blades +3, to hands + 5, and to blunt weapons +2. So, when you increase the level to the power indicator, we get +5. If we take into account that you can choose to increase three attributes for achieving a level, then it turns out that you need to raise 30 times the skills related to these attributes in total. But out of these thirty lifts, only 10 should relate to the main skills.
The result is, if you choose the main skill of the blade, then you have to run half a game with blunt weapons or even with your fists to raise the necessary parameter of strength, dexterity and endurance by +5 points. And if you run with blades, then you get all +5 in strength, but in the rest +1, maximum +2. You can learn skills for a long time, consider and weigh all the pros and cons of your choice.
For example, you can choose the following set to successfully improve your skills in Oblivion.
- Alchemy. Affects intelligence. Of course, it will rarely be useful to soldiers, but it will not hurt.
- Illusion. Whatever class you choose, magic will still be available to the player, but you will only use this ability when you need it.
- Light armor. Affect the speed indicator.
- Mysticism. Useful, but rarely needed magic.
- Gunsmith. A useful skill that makes it possible to repair equipment thereby increasing endurance.
- Invocation. Again, magic that will rarely be used.
- Hand-to-hand combat. Affects strength indicators. If you want to gain +5 strength, then you just need to get your fists and finish off your opponents.
What is the result: you can calmly fight on the blades, take damage on your heavy armor, put blocking attacks and shoot from a bow, without rising ahead of time in the level. But you will calmly raise all the factors to the +5 attribute.
Consider an example: we fight with a sword, we get + 7 to blades. Next, we take armor damage, increase endurance skill to +6. We just run, thereby increasing the speed by + 7, and now we can start pumping the basic skills in the Oblivion game.
We put on something light or just constantly jump, thereby pumping light armor or acrobatics to +3, and that’s all. The necessary parameters for us grow by +5 - this is strength, speed and endurance. We increase the skill of hand-to-hand combat in Oblivion, increasing strength to +3, and thanks to mending your equipment, we increase endurance to +4.
The basis for leveling the Mage
With magicians it is much more interesting to choose a race and initial tactics, because they have an interesting constellation Atronach, which gives the following very useful qualities.
- Mana will not recover over time, after sleeping or waiting. Of course, this is not an advantage.
- 50% of the spells that fall into us will not cause damage, but on the contrary, we will process them into mana. Conditionally, you will eat fireballs and lightnings that opponents will throw at you.
- Atronach’s initial mana is 150 more than others. Due to this, it will be possible to create very powerful spells at the later levels of magic, for which other constellations of magicians would not have the necessary resource.
What we get as a result: initial 50% vulnerability against all spells with the ability to absorb these spells and turn them into mana, as well as 150 additional mana points. If during the game you find more artifacts with the ability to absorb magic by 50 points, then your Atronah will become completely invulnerable to any magic. Thus, pumping skills in Oblivion will be much easier.
If you decide to take this constellation, then the best option would be to choose a female high elf race. This race is distinguished by more mana than the rest (by 100 points), which as a result gives you + 250 mana from the very beginning of the game. However, high elves are subject to a 25 percent weakness for various magic. For example, such as electricity, cold and fire. However, choosing the Atronach constellation will allow you to absorb fireballs and other magic, which eliminates your weakness.
You can create another version of the magician, less extreme. It could be Briton. He has +50 mana and resistance against magic 50. Choose the Mage constellation instead of Journeyman, because 100 additional mana points come with a 100% vulnerability to magic, and we don’t need it. If your appearance is not of much interest to you in this game, then you can choose a dark elf, imperial, and other races for your magician, but we already talked about the best option.
In Oblivion, skills for a mage need to be pumped on the same principle as for a warrior. The only thing that is better to put more non-magical abilities into basic skills, such as, for example, bows, eloquence and so on. Priority for magicians is willpower, but not for Atronach. Intelligence, as well as stamina and high health indicators are desirable for all characters.
The most successful thief Oblivion
A thief is not the most viable class, because you have to fight in the world of Oblivion anyway. The thief is best viewed as a light warrior outfitted with a short sword or bow.
The best races for this will be the Khajiit, Argonians, or forest elves.
Forest elves are not the first choice, because they have, to put it mildly, useless racial abilities, although they have a penchant for bows.
Argonians are 75% immune to diseases, completely resistant to the effects of poisons and breathe calmly under water. This race has nothing more special, however, for a thief, in principle, any race, even an orc, can do.
Kajit. Almost all the skills of this race for a thief are initially high. This is athletics, stealth, hacking and light armor. It will be much easier for our thief to begin his journey.
Constellation thief
It’s worth taking the Thief as the main constellation, not the Shadow. Once a day, becoming invisible, to put it mildly, pointless. The tower is also not a priority, because the ability to open a castle of medium difficulty once a day will not be so useful.
When creating your class, choose what affects dexterity most, then endurance and speed. We need speed to run away from enemies, periodically shooting at them from a bow. Endurance is needed, like all other heroes, and dexterity can significantly increase the damage done by a bow.
For example, you can take the following skills for a thief to pump his skills in Oblivion.
- Alchemy. Useful skill for preparing poisons, although you will not use it too often.
- Illusion. It makes it possible, partially or completely, to become invisible, which is sometimes useful.
- Heavy armor. Of course, you will run in the lungs and take damage in them, so you won’t rise too fast in the level.
- Mysticism. This is the magic that you will not use too often during the game.
- Gunsmith. A useful skill for all classes, which is not so often applied.
- Invocation. A magic that will hardly be used by you.
- Breaking. A very often used skill, extremely useful for a thief. It is with his help that you will improve your dexterity.
It turns out that your thief will shoot from afar, fight close on daggers or with a short sword, he will pump all of his main parameters thanks to hacking and bow, athletics, light armor, fixing equipment and blocking attacks.
Who can teach skills?
In the game you can meet characters who will help you raise your money. For the money, of course. For each of the 21 skills, 5 teachers can be found. Two of them will allow you to pump the skill to level 40, two more will help you reach level 70, and only one teacher will help you reveal all the secrets of the craft that interests you. Together with it you can reach the 100th level. Mentors-masters, of course, take a lot for their services.
Nevertheless, undergoing master training is not at all easy. First you need to reach level 70 and get a referral from your specialist teacher. Prior to this, the master will not be any different from other people that you will meet in this vast world. But even after receiving the direction, the master will not train you immediately. First, he will test your skills, giving you a small assignment.
All other teachers can start learning immediately. However, even here it is not so simple, because teachers still need to be found. They live in different cities, and some even prefer to live the life of hermits. It is worth remembering that at the initial stages the cost of such training will be very large for you. To move to a new skill level, you will have to give several hundred Septims. And the higher your level, the more gold you need to give to teachers. For one level you can learn only 5 lessons.
In Oblivion, teachers of skills and their location are very different. Of course, many of them will meet you in Cyrodiil, because it is the capital with many useful contacts. However, other masters may be in more distant cities or even in the forest more often.

Cheat codes for skills in Oblivion
There are always several ways to go about the game. You can spend a lot of time to improve the necessary characteristics or use secrets for quick improvement.
Cheats for skills in Oblivion, of course, are. You can open the console using the "tilde" and enter the phrase player.setav (skill name) (number). For example, you can enter player.setav Speechcraft 55 to increase the Speech skill to 55.
If you want to improve your strength, endurance, and other attributes, use the modpca code (attribute name) (value). For example, enter modpca Intelligence 150 to add 150 points for character intelligence.
AdvLevel code will help to increase the level of the character by 1. AdvSkill increases the level of skill by one unit.
