In many European countries, by the end of the seasons or before major holidays, a sign appears on almost every store, which reads: “Alennus”, “Sale”, that is, “Sale”. Finland is no exception. Sales are most often arranged here, and prices are much lower than in other countries.
Particular attention should be paid to the so-called Crazy Days, organized twice a year by the Stockmann department store. In October and April of each year, Stockmann holds its own sales. These days, thousands of customers who want to buy good quality products at a discounted price visit this huge store.
Another retail chain selling in Finland is Sokos. Her favorite trick is the sale of "3 + 1", that is, a person, having bought three things, receives a fourth as a gift.
They share 2 of the biggest discount seasons in Finland: winter and summer.
The winter season begins immediately after the end of the Christmas holidays, from about December 27-28. There is no definitely established day for the beginning of the discount season - each store independently selects a date. Many stores, for marketing purposes, begin to underestimate prices and, therefore, attract more customers, back in mid-December. This is especially true of New Year and Christmas decor, festive table setting items, Christmas tree decorations and toys. Of course, the discount may not be huge, but as they say: a trifle, but nice. Although discounts on sale days in Finland sometimes reach 30 percent.
You can also save some money on perfumes and cosmetics during this period. Often, their prices are reduced up to 50 percent.
Clothing sales are significantly dependent on the weather in winter. In Finland, during snowy, frosty, cold winters, discounts on light, demi-season clothing can be purchased and, conversely, in the rainy season, prices for warm clothes, winter jackets, skiing and snowboarding are significantly reduced.
As for technology, it is impossible to purchase it at discounts, since new electronics, computer equipment, household appliances, photo, video and audio equipment are much more expensive here than in Russia. But last year's models can be bought at fairly reasonable prices.
The summer sales season begins before the
religious holiday of Johannus in late June. At a time when sales in Finland, modern fashionistas from many corners of the planet flock here to buy clothes from summer collections, jewelry, souvenirs, sporting goods and much more.
In addition to regular annual discount seasons, Finnish stores arrange any promotions and special offers. Especially often you can find sales in stores of shoes, clothes and accessories. In anticipation of the receipt of a new product, the owners discount the price in order to quickly sell off the leftovers. Although in recent years, many stores began to trick and announce discounts and promotions where they really are not. But basically, if the posters “Ale”, “Alennus” or “Tarjous” are flaunting on the doors of the store or in the shop window, feel free to go inside, you will be lucky today and you will receive excellent quality goods at a reduced price.
Also frequent are sales in Finland when a store closes, moves or before repairs.
