Childhood
Kerdan Alexander was born in the small Ural town of Korkino, Chelyabinsk Region, on January 11, 1957. Neither the surroundings of the small, deeply provincial, mining town, nor the family, far from creative work, nothing seemed to contribute to the development of literary talent in the boy, but fate decreed otherwise.
The writer recalls that from the age of three he began to rhyme words. So, having seen a woman in trousers, which at that time was very rare, he issued a "poem": "nah-nah-naranah - a woman in trousers is walking." At school, Alexander was the permanent editor of the wall newspaper, in which his satirical works on topical topics regularly appeared: truants, losers. However, no one, including the future writer himself, attached importance to these poetic opuses. Ability and desire to write was considered as an insignificant ability, which is unlikely to be useful in the future.
Military career
After school, Alexander Kerdan decides to become a military man and enters the Kurgan Higher Military-Political Aviation School, which he graduated in 1978 with a gold medal and a diploma with honors. Studying brilliantly at the Military-Political Academy at the Faculty of Education and at the adjunct department of the Military University in Moscow. For 27 years, Kerdan Alexander has served in the Russian army. He went from a political worker and a teacher of a military university to a military journalist: children's talents made themselves felt. Kerdan wrote for the central magazines of the Ministry of Defense: “I have the honor”, ​​“Landmark”, “Warrior of Russia”. Having reached the rank of colonel, in 2001 he went into reserve, his new life began.
The path to science
Teaching prompted Alexander Kerdan to study science. In 1996, his cultural studies on the topic “Art in the system of means of forming the honor of an officer of the Armed Forces of Russia” became the basis for defending a dissertation for the degree of candidate of philosophical sciences. In 2007, he defended his doctoral dissertation in cultural studies on the topic "The social prestige of public service in Russia: a culturological analysis (on the example of the formation of officer honor)." Kerdan has a number of scientific and methodological publications.
The first writing experiences
Kerdan writes and publishes his first poems, while still a cadet of a military school. It is published in the newspapers Patriot, Gornyatskaya Pravda, the press organ of Korkino, in the Kurgan regional newspaper for youth “Young Leninist”, in the Kirov regional newspaper for teenagers and youth, “Komsomolskiy tribe”. In the 80s, Kerdan writes a lot of journalism, tries himself in prose. Studying at a military school, he participates in all-army and all-union meetings of young writers, communicates a lot with professionals, learns from them, receives the first lessons in writing, and masters the basics of literary craft.
Poetic heritage
The first poetry collection "Inheritance" was published only in 1990, before which he had been in the publishing house for eight years, waiting for his turn. During this time, Kerdan managed to accumulate a huge baggage of poems, and when publications become more accessible, a lot is published. For 25 years, he publishes about thirty poetry collections.
The main themes of A. Kerdan’s work are patriotism, man’s honor and dignity, respect for ancestors and the history of the Fatherland, and praising the beauty of women. He continues the traditions of the Russian poetry school. Rubtsov, Zabolotsky, Yesenin are close to him in style and spirit. His collections “The Court of Officer Honor”, ​​“Inheritance”, “The Game of Soldiers”, “The soul found an accidental shelter” received wide response from readers and positive reviews from critics.
