Ornamental shrubs: vinegar tree

Acetic tree (or Sumac deerinogue) is native to North America. It grows in very harsh conditions, on dry stony soils in the highlands. Sumy is very photophilous, tolerates prolonged droughts and cold winters. In addition, it can grow on infertile, saline soils. Specialists in the field of landscape design have long appreciated the stability and unpretentiousness of this Spartan plant. And most importantly for decorating the garden - Sumy has a very attractive appearance.

The vinegar tree has an umbrella-shaped crown, large and dense foliage. By autumn, it becomes a mottled red-pink color. Abundantly covered with red and purple pubescence, young shoots and adult trees look original and very impressive. Towards the end of summer, carmine-red fruit brushes appear on the branches. They are covered in bright red fluff. This decoration is kept on the branches all winter, until spring. This plant is relatively low and due to numerous root offspring often has bushy growth.

Sumakh olenorogy (or vinegar tree) is an unpretentious plant, it tolerates drought and, importantly, is resistant to air pollution. It prefers very lit places in a garden, but if necessary it can be put up with a little shading. Sumy can grow on absolutely any soil, it can easily withstand even an excess of lime in the soil, increased acidity and salinization. For a permanent place on the site, it is best to transplant a plant at the age of three years. Sumac vinegar is much easier to take root after a spring transplant. The distance between young plants should be at least 1.5-2 meters. The root neck is deepened by 5 centimeters. After planting, the plant must be abundantly watered.

In the future, vinegar wood requires a minimum of care. It is necessary to water exclusively young plants only in hot, arid weather. Once a year, the tree is fed a complex of mineral fertilizers. 50 grams of dry matter is needed per square meter. In May, frozen and dry shoots are cut. If you regularly do such decorative pruning, the tree will be voluminous and lush. In winter, young sumac plants mulch well. In autumn, seedlings of trees are not recommended to be planted, because they can freeze over the winter period. But even if this happened, in spring the plant can recover from the buds of the middle and lower parts of the shoot.

Flowering occurs in 4-5 years of life. The life span of sumac is short, it dies in 18-20 years. But the remaining developed root system is renewed by the shoot. Thanks to this, she aggressively captures the nearest space in a short time. As a rule, Sumy does not get sick, he has no natural pests.

This plant looks great on garden plots, it is used in the design of hedges or as a separately growing shrub. A vinegar tree, a photo of which can be seen in recipes, in the Caucasus and Turkey is used for pickling meat and as a seasoning for dressing salads.
