Architects are, of course, creative people. And when their imagination balances on the verge of reality and fantasy, the structures of the most unpredictable structures are born. So, on the streets of many cities of the world, house-changers surprise and delight the eyes of passers-by. These are constructions in which the floor and roof were interchanged. Surprisingly, such architectural “madnesses” play the role of not only artistic installations. Many of them are used for their intended purpose.
Florida, USA
At first it is impossible to believe that the unusual structure in the city of Orlando is real. However, almost all shifter houses are made in a somewhat exaggerated style. The miracle building located on International Drive Street is very popular among children. A house called Wonder Works is the real storehouse of all the most amazing. So, it has an attraction that simulates an earthquake of five points. And that’s not all. The changeling has more than a hundred entertainments: laser games, shows, game rooms, souvenir shops, cafes.
Matsumoto, Japan
In Matsumoto, a house was built at an angle of 135 degrees. The roof of this building is painted in bright pink. Such an unusual structure is difficult not to notice, so almost no one asks where the house-changeling is located - it can be seen from afar. Inside, too, not everything is so simple, for example, all plates with inscriptions are turned upside down. Within the walls of this changeling is a cafe. There is no reason to fear for your clothes: cups of coffee are not turned upside down; they are served in the traditional way. Tourists and residents of the city from such an institution are simply delighted.
Szymbark, Poland
Not all shifter homes are one hundred percent fit. However, this cannot be said about the structure in Shimbark: everything in it is upside down, both outside and inside. The imposing building rests on the roof, the foundation looks into the sky, and the attic window plays the role of the entrance. The whole simple atmosphere of the miraculous house is also upside down. Tourists note that being in this building for a long time is very difficult. The tour turns into a serious test of the vestibular apparatus for strength: dizziness is felt, signs of motion sickness appear.
From the outside it may seem funny, but most of the sightseers move very slowly, holding hands. And even the builders could not be in this house for a long time. That is why the changeling was built not in a few weeks, as originally planned, but in four months.
Vienna, Austria
The most famous contemporary sculptor of the country, Erwin Wurm, presented his project called "House Attacks." The creation of an unusual structure was inspired by his desire to criticize the existing policy of building typical budget houses. He even compared such standard structures with an oncological tumor spreading throughout the country.
The installation was placed directly on the roof of the Vienna Museum from October 2006 to February 2007.
Sunrise Golf Village, Florida
The first impression of tourists is this: a tornado swept across the state, as a result of which a shifter appeared. Photos show a structure in which everything is turned upside down, even grass and trees. Its creator is Norman Johnson, a resident of the village. Local authorities entrusted him with a responsible task to develop a project of an unusual structure in order to attract tourists. Like most such instances, the building is not used for permanent residence.
Repino, RF
The Miracle House was erected by Leva Yervandovich Madotyan. In the past, he was a jeweler, but twenty years ago, a man decided to radically change his sphere of activity - now he is a carpenter. Leva is sure that the cause of human misfortune was the unfortunate mistake that someone made at the very beginning of the birth of civilization. The house symbolizes the world turned upside down, in which we have since been living.
For fifteen years, Madodyan was not allowed to sleep peacefully by the idea of creating an inverted staircase descending from the sky. Not so long ago, a self-taught carpenter realized the idea. Now the staircase serves as a visor, protecting the porch from precipitation.
Kouvola, Finland
The entertainment center "Tyukkimäki" is known for having an inverted house on its territory. Tourists of all ages wander with interest in rooms of an unusual structure, trying to cope with unusual sensations.
Hamburg, Germany
Many change houses were created on special order. The Crazy House in Hamburg is no exception. This is a project of an initiative investor Dirk Oster. The work was entrusted to carpenters Manfred Colax, Gisel Schlettstober and Gerhard Mordost. According to the performers, this is the most unusual project that they have ever had to implement.
The miracle building is located in the local zoo. Everything in it is upside down - and the kitchen, and the living room, and the bedroom, and the bathroom. For reliable fixation of furniture, steel screws and plates were used. Especially a lot of time was needed in order to place all sorts of household trivia upside down. For example, linen was sewn to the bed so that it did not fall on the heads of visitors.
Dirk Oster conceived the construction of such a house for a reason - he wanted to challenge commonplace and allow people to look at familiar things from a different perspective.
Tyrol, Austria
Like-minded architects embodied their idea of an unusual house in eight months. Irek Glovatsky and Marek Rozhhanski independently designed and built a changeling. Tourists are very interested in the unusual building, because it provides an excellent opportunity to look at the world differently.
The house as if crashes into the ground and holds on thanks to one of the edges of the roof. Everything is upside down, even a car in the garage. The area of the amazing structure is as much as 140 m2, but the architects decided not to stop there: they are currently developing a landscape design of the territory adjacent to the house. Tourists watch with interest how the house-changer grows.
Kiev, Ukraine
An amazing house opened to visitors in January 2013. On an area of 80 m2 there is a kitchen, a nursery, a bedroom and a bathroom. In addition, there was a place even for a small attic. The creators of this unusual building did their best: even the sewing machine, dishes, furniture and toilet are bolted to the ceiling! You can easily touch the chandelier with your hands, but you will have to reach up for the toys. The main highlight of the changeling is that its interior is made up of things from the 80s of the XX century. Even the wall calendar was printed in 1983! You can shoot everything on camera or camera absolutely free.
Changeling house in Moscow
An interactive attraction that is popular with residents of the capital and guests of the city is a cottage, turned upside down. An unusual building from a distance catches the eye. This is a unique multimedia exhibit located at ENEA.
The Changeling House cannot be called unusual on the outside. This is a very standard wooden structure, only its roof rests on the ground, and the foundation, accordingly, rises up. A real car is parked nearby. Naturally, upside down. Many visitors are surprised at how it was possible to secure a real vehicle in this way. The fact that the structure is located at a slight slope of about ten degrees does not go unnoticed. For this reason, most people, when approaching the building, begin to feel slightly dizzy.
The house-changeling at VVC (the address is not assigned to it, therefore, it is necessary to focus on Pavilion No. 57 “Ukraine”) was built taking into account world experience in the field of unusual architecture. In addition, the creators did not fail to introduce architectural and design innovations into the project. All visitors note that the Changeling House in Moscow is an amazing place, even time flows differently in it. Everything is explained by an unusual format of space.
The house is two-story, includes a kitchen, a living room, a bedroom and a nursery. The interior was given increased attention. It is made in the European style, all items are carefully selected. Many say that during the tour you can feel about the same as on an extreme roller coaster. This happens not only because of the unusual placement of things, but also because of the design bias.
The attraction opens its doors daily at 10 am. On weekdays, excursions run until seven in the evening, and on weekends up to eight. And do not forget to grab three hundred rubles - that’s how much the entrance to the Changeling House at the All-Russian Exhibition Center costs. Reviews from tourists are unanimous: this place is worth a visit.
Antalya, Turkey
Among the attractions of the tourist center of the country a special place is occupied by a change-house. This facility was erected to maintain interest in the local construction industry. In addition, it attracts tourists. Many people are interested in looking at an unusual house both outside and inside.
Batumi, Georgia
In an inverted Georgian restaurant you can not only get new sensations, but also enjoy national dishes. At first, the idea of the young architect was not taken seriously. Back in 2011, discussions were held about the feasibility of constructing such an object, and after twelve months the residents of Batumi and city guests were able to admire the unusual building. The restaurant is located on Khimshiashvili Avenue. The building is similar to the famous White House in the United States, only it is slightly smaller and stands upside down. All restaurant customers are delighted with the unusual ideas of designers.
As you can see, there are many change houses, and all of them do not lack attention. Many people are very interested in seeing familiar things from a different angle.
