What mysterious helpers control not only the fate of things, but also your own life? What do the laundry icons mean? More about this later in the article.
Icons = shortcut decryption?
It is impossible to put an equal sign between the concepts of "icon" and "label". We will deal with this issue in more detail.
The label, as a rule, is sewn on the left side of the product and is a rectangular piece of fabric of small sizes. A cut line (a dotted line with scissors) is marked on it, that is, often these "excess" parts are removed. This is done so that the labels do not cause discomfort when wearing clothes. However, irrevocably getting rid of the small and insignificant, at first glance, detail is not worth it, because from it you can learn a lot of interesting and really important things.
The country of manufacture
Of course, most often on the label will be written already bored "Made in China", but if you are lucky enough to meet a variety: Turkey, Hungary, and suddenly Italy, Germany at all - you know, most likely you have high-quality products in your hands. However, in many boutiques and China today is very, very good.
Product Material
It is also important to know from which fabric the item you want to purchase is sewn. Moreover, the matter here can be not only in comfort (for example, in cotton clothes, as a rule, sweating is much less than, say, in polyester), more and more consumers nowadays suffer from allergies (both to synthetics and to wool). Therefore, often ignorance of the material from which the clothes are made can lead to health problems, or even become a threat to life.

Another significant, and perhaps the most important element. Neither product quality nor fabric matter if, after the first wash, the item goes to the wastebasket. What do the badges on clothes mean? How will this knowledge help? You probably know that at high temperatures or a large number of spin cycles, your favorite warm clothes can "sit down" and only a small teddy bear will be at the time. Knowing the decoding of the icons on the clothes for washing can greatly facilitate the life of every housewife. Let's figure it out together.

For convenience, we present the material in a structured form and conditionally divide it into categories: washing, drying, ironing, dry cleaning. The signs themselves (pictures from labels) are numbered, and a description is attached to each of them.
Badges for clothes
1 - In the image we see an ordinary basin with water. This suggests that the thing can be washed under any conditions (of your choice). However, in recent times, these badges can be found on clothes less easily, making life easier for housewives.
2 - Infrequently, you can meet with a crossed basin and a basin filled with water. This designation of the icons on the clothes is completely opposite to the previous one. No washing, any: at least machine, at least manual. You can call him "a favorite of dirty people."
3 - A hand, lowered into a basin with water, as an icon on clothes, states that only hand wash is possible for this thing. Very often, this designation is found on things with prints, rhinestones and other decorative elements. Also on the basins can be indicated the temperature at which you can wash this or that thing. The degree varies from 30 to (just imagine!) 95 degrees.
The last icons on clothes are, of course, extremely rare, but they say that you can even boil it if necessary. Things with this designation are the real salvation of hospitals, as well as young parents (sometimes you have to boil diapers in order to get rid of a full bouquet of various spots and smells).
4 - The first icon on clothes with the temperature indicated on it means that the item can only be washed in this degree mode. There are no specific instructions regarding the number of spin turns or other characteristics.
5 - If, in addition to the number indicating degrees, you see one short line under the basin, then it's time to apply the delicate washing mode with fewer turns during the spin cycle. The temperature in this case must be observed even more carefully.
6 - Another icon on clothes indicating the temperature is the basin, underlined by two short stripes. A variant is possible when they are located in one line with a small gap (as shown in the figure).
You can also see strips located one above the other. In this case, the decoding of the icons on the clothes for washing is identical: a delicate mode with a lot of water with gentle spinning and quick rinsing.

7 - There is an icon in the form of a white triangle, which means that when cleaning you can use absolutely any bleached, even with a chlorine content. If the word "Cl" is written inside the triangle, then bleaching is also not prohibited, but cold water is required, the powder must be completely dissolved. You can see the similarity of such icons in the figure.
8 - A badge on clothing with a crossed white triangle cross indicates that bleaching is prohibited. A categorical taboo is imposed on substances that contain chlorine. This is what the badges on the clothes mean. No need to take risks - it is unlikely that your enthusiasm will lead to a positive result.
Icons on ironing clothes
9 - The most ordinary iron on the badge without any additional symbols on it indicates that you can iron your wonderful things marked in this way without the slightest fear. Moreover, even machine ironing is allowed.
If you see a crossed-out white iron, then the thing cannot be ironed at all. Only the option with a steamer is possible at minimum temperatures.
10 - White iron with one dot inside. The decoding of these icons on clothes is simple: the thing should be ironed at a minimum temperature, namely not more than 120 degrees (which corresponds to the number 1 or one point on the iron). The delicate ironing mode is explained by the materials from which this or that thing is made: in our case, it is most likely polyamide, acetate, nylon or something like that, here we also take silk.
11 - The iron and two black dots on it can be equated to the ironing mode of no more than 130 degrees (number 2 or a pair of dots). Often this designation can be found on viscose or wool clothing.
12 - Finally, the designation of the icons on the clothes in the form of an iron with three dots - the maximum temperature and the minimum number of problems for you. You can calmly iron such things at 200 degrees. Number 3 on the iron or three dots. This category includes our favorite summer “breathable” fabrics: linen and cotton.

13 - An ordinary white circle on the label announces that the item may be subject to dry cleaning without the use of any liquid products.
14 - The letter A in the circle means that the clothes can be dry cleaned with a clear conscience: any means are applied to it without harm to "health".
15 - Everything is not so simple with the letter P: in this case, only substances containing hydrocarbon, monofluorotrichloromethane, and chlorine ethylene can be used for dry cleaning.
16 - F in a white circle warns that white alcohol can be used to dry clean things, as well as hydrocarbon and trifluorotrichloromethane.
17 - The badge on the clothes, identical to that described under number 15. There are no fundamental differences between them - the only difference is that the clothes marked with such a sign with a line below require a more careful approach.
18 - The same story as in the case of the previous image. Characteristics are identical to sign number 16, but the line below requires more delicate cleaning.

19 - The icon with the image of a circle enclosed in a square (by the way, this is a washing machine) means that the thing can be safely wrung out and then dried in an automatic washing machine.
20 - If you see an icon that painfully resembles an option that allows everything, the only difference is that this time the machine is crossed out with a cross, do not give in to the first desire to thoroughly dry your clothes in the "washer"! This designation conjures: do not wring out and do not dry in the automatic machine.
21 - When a single dot appears inside the drawn machine, turn on the gentle mode and reduce the drying temperature as much as possible. However, it is still valid.
22 - With two points inside the machine it’s easier: you can dry at any temperature: including high temperatures, which are most often set automatically when drying in the washing machine.
23 - A square with an arc inside has recently been seen less and less on labels: out of fashion. Such an icon indicates that the thing can be completely dried on a clothesline (well, well, you never know - it will come in handy).
24 - A square with three vertical stripes inside means that this item can only be dried vertically. It is important that it also cannot be squeezed (it should be hung so that the water gradually drains from the clothes itself).
25 - The white square with one strip in the inner part convinces us of the opposite than the lines in the previous case: the thing can only be dried in a horizontal position.
Do not wring
The icons on the clothing labels, which show a twisted towel crossed out with a cross, clearly indicate that the spin is prohibited, and in any form: at least in the washing machine, at least by hand. It’s worth remembering this image, so that your things do not turn into stretched clothes for a lanky basketball player (or a giant - depending on what degree of fantasticness you prefer).
