Yasen Nikolaevich Zasursky was born on October 29, 1929 in Moscow, in a family of workers. In an interview, he mentioned that he received such an unusual name from his mother, who loved his father’s eyes very much, called her husband clear-eyed and decided to give his son a name in honor of his father’s eyes.
Yasen’s childhood passed in the atmosphere of severe war years. Having a great penchant for science and devoid of any other entertainment, Yasen spent a lot of time in the library, located near his house. Not far from the Zasursky dwelling there was a zoo. However, Yasen never visited there. Indeed, during the war, the zoo was evacuated. Over the years, Zasursky will remember this place with great love and warmth and often talk about it in numerous interviews.
