Many people who value handwork especially love different original things - jewelry, bags, toys, stationery. Handmade is in fashion today, although few people understand and accept this. But still it is popular, and various masters are engaged in it.
To create beautiful notebooks is to give part of the soul, this is art, this is work. They, as well as albums, postcards, caskets and other paper things that preserve important moments of life, belong to such a type of needlework as scrapbooking.
Next, we will figure out how to make a notebook with your own hands. There are several ways. The first and easiest of them is to decorate a ready-made notebook. If you don’t like what is on the shelves of the store, you can turn it into something that will warm your soul.
So, having bought a regular diary, you can begin to transform it. To do this, some jewelry is needed - various flowers, leaflets, ribbons, strasses and beads. And also everything that you like. First you need to put everything on the cover in that order (or chaos), as you want. Next, everything should be glued to a reliable glue and enjoy the result. This is the easiest option that even a student can handle.
The second option is more complicated. You can make a notebook with your own hands by tearing a block with sheets from a finished diary and making a new cover for it. To do this, measure out two dense cardboard boxes (thick corrugated cardboard, binding cardboard or other available) the size of the block itself + half a centimeter on each side. It is also necessary to cut cardboard in length and width, like a block with sheets, plus half a centimeter in height (not necessary in width). Then you need to take a piece of beautiful paper, fabric or leather 5-7 centimeters more on each side than the former cover of a notebook. Having laid it out evenly (if it is a fabric, it is advisable to iron it out before), you should put the cardboard on top in the following order - front, side, back, leaving half a centimeter between them.
Next, glue the corners on four sides to the cardboard. Then - completely the upper and lower sides, then similarly the sides. The blank is ready. It remains only to glue bookends. To do this, take 2 sheets of paper, which about the sizes correspond to 2 sheets from the block. Fold each sheet in half. Then glue half of such a sheet to each side of the workpiece (the second half will simply open). Then take the block, glue the strip from the beginning of the spine from top to bottom with glue and stick to the beginning of the rest of the bookend. So do on both sides. Close the finished book well and wait for it to dry. That's all - the original notebook with your own hands is ready!
And the third, most difficult option. You can make notebooks with your own hands from scratch. Consider the
size of A5. To do this, you need to take the usual A4 office
sheets . Fold each sheet in half. From folded sheets make books of 5 double leaves.
In order for the notebook to have 100 sheets, you need 10 such books. Next, these books need to be sewn. You can do this manually by making holes in the right places with an awl or a large needle and threading the sheets together. And you can do it on a sewing machine - flash each folded block. Then 10 small books should be folded neatly and evenly, put cardboards of size A5 on top and bottom, fixed with crocodiles (office clothespins).
Put a lot of glue on the end (the side of the existing big book) and glue a thin piece of gauze or bandage over the entire length (this is to prevent the notebook from breaking up in the future). It is advisable to leave this creation to dry overnight.
In the morning you can start the cover. It is similar to the second option. I would like to add only a few tips.
If you make a fabric cover, you can put a synthetic winterizer under it. So it will be soft and comfortable.
And if you are going to sew any decoration, it is better to do this before gluing the fabric to the cardboard.
So, making a notebook with your own hands is not easy. But it’s not very difficult if you understand everything and measure it seven times, and only then cut it.
