Condensing boiler - the principle of its operation

Condensing boiler is actively used in all European countries. No one doubts that this is a practical and reliable device. Europeans simply admire them - this is environmentally friendly equipment and significant energy savings. The first country to start using a condensing boiler was Holland. In the USA, the use of such devices makes it possible to obtain preferential tax conditions. In recent years, the technology of their production has become much cheaper, which allows them to draw attention to an increasing number of people. However, these units are twice as expensive as usual, which is justified.

Condensing boiler operates on a very simple principle. The creation of such devices became possible only after the appearance of a corrosion-resistant light alloy of stainless steel. This is due to the fact that in the process of formation of water condensate, corrosion of cast iron and steel occurred. Now we can talk about how the gas condensing boiler works. Water enters the unit, heating there due to the combustion of gas. After that, it goes from the boiler to the heating system, where it cools down. Then the water is again in the boiler. When the gas burns out, not only heat is generated, but also various products of this process in the form of chemical compounds. The combustion of hydrocarbon fuels leads to the formation of water, carbon dioxide and nitrogen. The first component is converted to steam under the influence of high temperatures. Incomplete combustion leads to the formation of carbon monoxide and soot. These hot gases give their energy to the heat carrier, passing through the boiler heat exchanger, and the water is heated. Cooled gases enter the atmosphere through a chimney. Water vapor leaves with smoke.

The condensing boiler is equipped with a secondary heat exchanger with a special design, which allows water to condense on a surface with a temperature of less than 50 degrees Celsius. In order for the steam to settle, the heating medium of the return line of the heating system is used. Warm gas, which was not used in the process of heating water in the main heat exchanger, is in the second, where the liquid flows after cooling. Vapors condense, giving up part of the energy, which allows you to heat the water. Condensate formed through an additional drainage pipe goes into the sewer.

Gas condensing wall-mounted boilers work more efficiently, the lower the temperature of the water entering the device. Optimal for such devices is a temperature of 30-40 degrees Celsius. In a radiator system, the temperature is usually 60-70 degrees, which leads to a decrease in the efficiency of such equipment, but it still remains quite high. Optimum operation of the condensing boiler is possible when the difference in temperature of the forward and reverse lines is at the level of 20 degrees, not more.
