The ideal option is the presence in the home of a separate bedroom for spouses, a nursery, a living room, an office and all utility rooms. Unfortunately, most often it happens that the owners do not have the required number of rooms. It sometimes even happens that the family owns only one room. And the nursery in the same room as the bedroom and the living room is not a rare case for middle-class Russians.
Wavy partitions in the room
If the footage allows, then you can simply divide one room into two. This can be done using sheets of drywall, plywood, hardboard, precast-monolithic floors, boards, bricks or chipboards.
Moreover, the new walls do not have to be flat. Wavy partitions look very beautiful and unusual. If the bedroom and the nursery are located in the same room, then the partition painted in a pleasant bluish background can imitate sea waves. But from the side of adults it is recommended to draw palm trees, seagulls on them - as if two are basking on the shore, and from the side of the nursery, to paint the wall with funny cartoon characters: Marlin, Nemo, Dory will lighten the mood and bring pleasant dreams to the kids.
Partitions decorated with shells glued to the surface, sea pebbles, artificial amber pieces will imitate the sea coast even more. You can even use sailboat models or hang fish mockups.

Partitions also look original in which there are some glass small windows located asymmetrically. Glass for them is better to use colored or frosted.
Partitions may not completely occupy the space from the ceiling to the floor. For example, an interesting design decision would be to use its arbitrary form, not reaching the ceiling. Such a wall can have the shape of a huge flower, be multi-layered, made up of geometric shapes that are different in color, texture and shape, superimposed, have the shape of a circle with cut out segments, or repeat the contours of a large animal.
The partition is furniture
But do not be upset if you can’t build a partition, because you can make a children's room without resorting to construction. It is enough to block the room with a rack, cabinets or a children's corner, deploying it with the “back” side to the adults and building the partition to the ceiling only in its upper part.
Portable screens are often used to highlight a children's or sleeping area, which can be removed during the day. But if the screen is made of translucent material with an interesting pattern, for example, pictures from the life of the Japanese or Chinese, then it will become an integral part of the interior. True, at night you can "enhance" the blackout with the help of special curtains made of thick paper or fabric.
Space saving through transforming furniture
First, you should consider a situation where you need to combine not three housing functions, but only two. For example, a solution is needed when both the bedroom and the nursery are located in the same room.
In order for the beds to occupy as little space as possible, there are excellent design and engineering finds. This is, firstly, rising wardrobe beds. They are best used for adults.
Remarkable options are folding sofa beds, book beds, chair beds.
Layered space division
The second interesting solution in cases where there is both a bedroom and a nursery in one room can be considered children's corners, in which the crib is on the second floor, as a result of which the space under it remains free: you can easily place a table there, install a computer or TV arrange bookshelves.
Often, "on the second floor" of the children's corner is located and a play area. However, it is worth carefully considering the safety of the implementation of such a design decision in life. But you can “defeat” small children's rooms only in this way: use the space not only horizontally, but also vertically.
Podium for ... pantry!
There is one more amazing variant of the idea of zoning a room: equipment in one part of the podium. The elevation will perfectly play the role of a zone of a children's corner. Why exactly children? Yes, if only because the child is always lighter than adults, and safer if less weight presses on the podium.
But there will not be an adult bed at all: in the morning a mattress with wheels slides into a secret door located on the side of the elevation step, and a box with bedding will also be hidden there. By the way, this option can be used not only in cases where the bedroom and the nursery are combined in the same room - small children's rooms will also get extra space due to the original solution of pushing the bed into the empty space of the podium.
Living room and children's room in one room
The option of combining adult and children's bedrooms is suitable in cases where the children are still very small. But the older the child, the more curious he is ... And the decision arises to “leave” with an inquisitive baby while sleeping in different rooms.
If the child is not allocated a separate room, then he will now have to settle in part of the living room. And then dividing the room into zones is the only right decision.
The most convenient is the zoning of the room with the help of wall simulations. That is, these are partitions, but not solid. They can be made of large pieces of painted hardboard hanging on ropes, like curtains. Or, as a zone limiter, through shelves of bizarre shape can be used, shelves of which can be used for books and vases, caskets and figurines, an aquarium and children's crafts.
Zoning of the nursery with the allocation of a bedroom and an office
Adults also call the nursery out of habit and the room where far from toddlers but teenagers live. And they, who feel almost adults, do not like the fact that the room has a bed, a desk, and wardrobes.
You can install a partition in the room, but then the study or bedroom will be completely isolated from sunlight. And visually both little rooms will be so tiny that being in them will be difficult and not too comfortable.
For such cases, there is such an option: make a partition between the zones with a window. Such "transparent walls" and divide the room into parts, and transmit light from the window, and visually do not reduce the space.
