In total, there are four main factions in Fallout New Vegas. You can enter any of them, because the game involves a variable passage. That is, many actions can be carried out in different ways. Each fraction has its pros and cons, and it is not always possible to clearly say who is better. For clarity, we consider them in detail and draw conclusions.
The ratio of fractions to the player
Each faction will relate to the player depending on his actions. In the event of hostility, the player will simply be attacked. But even if the faction hates you, you can always use disguise by wearing the clothes of this organization. Also in Fallout New Vegas there is a fractional armor without belonging, which means that the attitude to the Courier will not change. This, however, is secondary to us now and is only one of many details of the game. Let's proceed directly to the factions in Fallout New Vegas.
Caesar's Legion
Disciplined and methodical soldiers of Caesar with an iron gait excite the sandy landscape. They lose by number, but they take quality. You never know where the next squad is hiding. Sabotage and partisanism are the main methods of their war. They appear suddenly and, like a cobra strike, rush forward. A well-aimed throw of a spear knocks down the legs of an armored mercenary. A ballistic fist crushes even the strongest metal, locking the owner in an "iron coffin." A sharp smooth machete completes the job, leaving no chance of survival.
So strongly reminiscent of Ancient Rome, the army, like the prototype, is famous for strict discipline and military skill. Their undoubted advantage over the NKR is the complete absence of bureaucracy. No paperwork, no separation of power, only Caesar, with an iron hand, directing blood and metal across the vast desert. The discipline and fearlessness of the soldiers of the Legion and their commanders largely determine their military successes.
When the Courier first enters the Legion camp, he cannot help but admire how this streamlined mechanism works. However, all this is given for a reason. Slaves who are driven to exhaustion. An arena in which experienced centurions are ready to tear to pieces a ragged prisoner. They kill without mercy, for they believe that cowards and liars are worse than animals and do not deserve leniency. Every now and then, traveling through the scorched desert, you come across crucified "Caesar's enemies."
New California Republic
One of the main factions in Fallout New Vegas is the New California Republic (NKR). Their goal is to restore the pre-war order of things. In fact, it is they who protect the law in Mojave. However, the desire for a bygone order also brought with it the mistakes of the past. The senseless bureaucracy, the stupidity of the commanders and corruption destroy the NKR system from the inside, while the Legion torments them from the outside. Needless to say, at the time the Courier appeared, they were not in the best condition.
Despite this, they are the only institution of legality. Soldiers with rifles at the forefront of the war with the gangs and Caesar. When the Courier takes his first steps in a hostile world, he is confronted with a gang of Demoman - runaway prisoners who captured a prison near the settlement and terrorize the locals. You can either defend against them together with the inhabitants, or you can join the gang yourself. Later, after meeting Eddie, their leader, an option will be available to help NKR soldiers in storming the prison. So to say that the NKR is not doing anything would be an exaggeration.
The New California Republic is spread all over Mojave, "having bitten off more than it can swallow." The desire for such absolute control led to the powerlessness of the NKR in its own territory. And this "untied hands" to various gangs and raiders. An indicative moment is the protection of roads. Having met with one caravan driver, the Courier learns that the road that the Legion took control of has become absolutely safe, they quickly got rid of all the raiders. NKR is not able to provide even scanty safety of movement.
Mr. House
The mysterious Mr. House is also one of the factions of Fallout New Vegas. However, if the NKR and the Legion have soldiers and their commanders, then the mysterious human computer rules the invisible hand. Its main strength is securitons - robots traveling around the Strip and looking for order. Mr. House achieved the full independence of the Strip from the NKR and even forbade the soldiers to carry weapons on its territory. The only thing the military police are content with is electric batons, which serve more to pacify noisy soldiers.
In addition to securitons, the former wild tribes who now own their casinos are responsible for control on the Strip. Omerta, a former Zmeyuki tribe, once lured travelers to their homes, pumped them with drugs and sold them into slavery. Now they are the owners of the Gommora casino. The “Chairmen,” former Horsemen in the Boots, caught House’s attention by quickly breaking up with his security guard. Now they are at the head of the Tops. The White Glove Society is the former cannibals who now run the Ultra Lux Casino Hotel.
House seems to be a brilliant player in the political arena. All his calculations are very accurate, and the conclusions are as rational as possible. Although he himself is partly a computer. He refers to the Courier as an employee, using the only motivation - monetary. But despite the highest intelligence, he could not predict the betrayal of his employee Benny. The one who put a bullet in the head of the Courier. By the way, betrayal is his pain point, because even the Courier can get rid of a half-dead body by sticking a "dagger in the back."
Yes man
Yes-man (Yes-man) is a robot that is programmed to help everyone, encourage everyone and not refuse anyone. He was reprogrammed by Benny to seize power. He knows everything about Mr. House, because he was his securiton, and has access to his computer network. Itself does not represent a faction in Fallout New Vegas. With the help of Yesman, Courier can fight for the independence of New Vegas. Initially serves Benny. However, after resolving all issues with him, the Courier may find Yes-man in the secret room.
To establish independence, New Vegas will need to fight on all sides. After all, everyone will be against such an unexpected move by a knight. An additional complication is that the whole burden of decisions lies on the shoulders of the Courier and a trouble-free robot. However, this is the only option for translating your own plans into reality.
Who to choose?
The ratio of fractions in Fallout New Vegas depends on the actions of the Courier, and therefore, on the principles of the player. If you are a supporter of order, law and like to side with the weak and the losers - choose the NKR. You will be faced with the task of restoring the true power of the republic, discarding external enemies.
If you think that everything that is weak is flawed, and this must certainly be destroyed and replaced, then choose the Legion. This is only if you are not embarrassed by slavery, oppression of women and crucifixion. Above all, the Legion values discipline and military strength. If all these principles are close to you, then the choice is obvious.
Mr. House's rule is based on dictatorship. But this does not detract from his intellectual abilities. All he needs is the prosperity of the Strip, and he doesn’t really care about other places in Mojave. If you are close to an approach based solely on the material prosperity of a particular territory and your own financial well-being, feel free to stand in front of Mr. House's computer face.
The independence of New Vegas seems too idealized way of development. Everything can be done perfectly, pleasing everyone and not depriving anyone. The downside of this path is that it is unrealistic. The utopia that independence offers is not feasible in reality. But if such conventions do not interest you, then feel free to proceed with the creation of a "brave new world."
