If you have a nice T-shirt that you want to update a bit, and at the same time make a stylish thing out of the ordinary, in line with current fashion trends, then you can experiment with its design.
Preparatory stages
Drawing on t-shirts can be done in several ways. But for this, the thing itself needs to be prepared in advance. Wash it, iron it so that there are no wrinkles and folds, otherwise the drawing will turn out to be inaccurate. It would be nice to find a plywood edge, a thin sheet of chipboard or paper cardboard in the width and length of the shirt. It will need to be put inside to ensure an even, solid surface for printing and to protect the back of the garment if it is decorated before. Or vice versa. Even drawing on t-shirts will require some improvised tools, depending on the fabric processing technique. We will talk about this later.
Turning into artists
On a T-shirt you can draw not only a neutral image, but also a logo or symbolism of your favorite sports team, its motto, an interesting saying. You can make an inscription in the
style of graffiti. The main thing for you is a good knowledge of a pencil, or rather a marker. Because, first of all, drawing a picture on T-shirts, we suggest you do it with the help of this simple tool. Freshly dispensed markers write fine on textiles, the paint is well absorbed into the fibers of the fabric, fixed for a long time and perfectly retains color. True, it is important that the source (shirt) is light, because on dark material, only a white marker will be visible clearly. And the drawing itself on t-shirts is carried out as follows: if you know how to draw properly, then sketch on the fabric (immediately the front side!) With a simple pencil or chalk and then paint over with one color or another. If this is your first job, choose a simpler print, plain or contrasting colors, without pronounced color transitions. When the hand is full - show everything that you are capable of!
Screen Stroke
If you order a t-shirt to be printed on with a private person or company, the price of the work may vary depending on the complexity of the work, the number of copies, etc. Solving the problem yourself will cost you much cheaper, even if you do not immediately learn how to make complex images on t-shirts. But back to the process. Suppose you have selected a suitable print in electronic form. Set the image to black and white, mirror it using your computer’s graphics editor (ACD, FastStone Image Viewer, Photoshop, etc.), print it out and print it. Only, firstly, the picture should not exceed the parameters you need. Secondly, to make an independent drawing on a t-shirt, special equipment is required. For example, hoops and acrylic
(for fabrics) paints. About paints a little later, but your sample should not be larger than the size of the hoop. Now the technique:
- A piece of thick tulle is taken, mounted on the hoop.
- It is superimposed on the printout of the drawing with a cloth and is copied in all details (i.e. the hoop is placed on the wrong side to you).
- On the front side, the entire space of the picture, not touched by the image, is smeared with waterproof glue. Wait for it to dry well.
- Attach the tulle with the pattern to the t-shirt, take pieces of foam rubber, sponge or tassels and apply the details of the picture through the tulle to the t-shirt. Everything should turn out carefully, because glued areas will not allow paint to flow beyond the desired boundaries.
- Wait for the print to dry. Pay attention to the packaging with paints, there should be instructions for use. Therefore, if it is written that the painted product should be ironed, do it better, the result will be preserved for a long time.
