It may seem that controlling the light is not so difficult. All that is needed is to connect a switch with a lighting load to the network. And complete order! A more difficult task is to control the lighting in the room from two places at once. But this problem can be solved by using single pass-through switches. So what exactly are they?
First of all, they differ from simple switches, in which a completely ordinary electronic circuit interruption occurs in that there are three contacts built in the walk-through switches, and between them there is a mechanism for switching.
Their main advantage is that the passage switches provide the ability to turn off or turn on not only one lamp, but also a whole group of lighting devices from two points (or more) of the living room. Often these devices are popularly referred to as cross over or redundant switches.
There are actually not so few places for using this device, but you need to know thoroughly how to connect a passage switch. For example, you can install it in a hall with a large area - it will be possible on the one hand, at the entrance, turn on the light, on the other hand, at the exit, turn off. After you climb the stairs, there will always be the opportunity to turn off the lights on it. The switch through passage can provide similar convenience and comfort. A similar circuit is able to work not only with lighting, but also with other electrical devices.
Nevertheless, even at the stage of building a house or during the repair of an apartment, it is necessary to determine exactly where the breakers will be located, so that it is possible to lay high-quality electrical wiring for them. This is due to the fact that at the end of the construction / repair work, this will not be so easy to do, since one additional cable is required.
In order to prevent confusion, it is worthwhile to understand exactly what the difference is between two-pole and single-pole switches. In bipolar switches, two conductors are closed / disconnected simultaneously - neutral and phase, and in single-pole circuit breakers - only one. Two-pole passage switches are mainly used to turn off complex devices that may require increased electrical safety, for example, electric heating boilers.
It should be noted that such switches can have more than two keys.
Since this article is about switches, it is useful to know that there are appliances that can be used to simultaneously control the light and, for example, a fan located in the kitchen. Since when the light turns off, the fan in the kitchen continues to work, you can always set the time, and it will turn itself off. Such devices have a specific name - timers. They can be of several types: for installation directly under the switch in the installation box, for installation in the cabinet. In any case, you need to make sure that it is the selected equipment that is fully suitable for your room.
