Children's camp "Caravel" - this is thirty hectares of pines, thuja, a magnificent sandy beach and a fun holiday for every taste. Opening in 1946, Caravel is still a favorite vacation spot for children from 7 to 15 years old.
A few words from the story
Almost 70 years ago, the administration of the plant. Kulakova decided to open the Caravel Camp for the children of her employees. The first tent camp on the Karelian Isthmus received only 65 pioneers. The children liked the beautiful place so much that the very next year it became clear: there were sorely lacking places in the camp. And "Caravel" began to grow. New buildings rose, a club appeared. They began to bring not only factory ones to rest. Children's recreation camp "Caravel" began to accept subordinate kindergarteners. Only one thing was invariable: counselors and educators in the camp were the best employees of the military plant named after Kulakova.
During perestroika, the construction of the camp stopped. The plant, which did not receive a dime for the production, could no longer invest in the development of children's leisure. But the camp was saved. Moreover, he continued his work.
In 1996, when they wanted to arrest the property of the camp for debts, it turned from a factory-owned place for children to a nonprofit organization DOCL “Caravel”. The camp is preparing for its 70th anniversary and remains the favorite vacation spot for children of all ages.
Caravel today
Today the camp operates in four shifts. Each has its own name: "Star Pilgrims", "School of Magic and Wizardry", "Third Economic", etc.
Children's camp "Caravel" has become the base platform for students of the Herzen Pedagogical Institute. The best students are specially selected and trained to work in the camp. There is no doubt in their professionalism, enthusiasm, creativity.
The main task of the camp is a functional children's vacation. There are no circles, there are directions.
- In the fitness center you can do sports, oriental and modern dances, several types of aerobics, Pilates, yoga or just play outdoor games.
- The sports direction is represented by the Marine Watch Club, a bicycle section. Here teenagers are waiting for team and "quiet" games.
- In the workshops, everyone will be taught to sew soft toys, create costumes, sculpt.
And there is also a school of performing arts, a vocal studio.

Housing and living conditions
What is the Caravel today? The camp fully meets all the requirements for institutions of this type. There are stone and wooden buildings, a large dining room, a huge club, a modern first-aid post. For children, parents can choose:
- For younger children: wooden cottages 3, 4, 5. Toilets and showers in them are in buildings, rooms are designed for 2-4 people. If we talk about the building "Sadko", standing among coniferous trees, amenities are immediately behind it.
- For older children: cottages 9, 10 with rooms for 4-6 people or the buildings "Marat", "Boat" with amenities on the street.
- For middle age: stone buildings 37, 38 with amenities on the floors.
The buildings are warm and dry even in inclement weather. Underwear is constantly changing, and counselors and carers help to keep order.
The food is not only hearty and tasty, but also very healthy. Camp "Caravel" constantly takes prizes in competitions on food quality. Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision has repeatedly recognized that here is the best health food.
How to buy a ticket
You can fill out a form to purchase a ticket to the camp "Caravel" on the site. After confirmation, the administration sends an account that can be paid at Sovetskiy Bank (no commission) or through Internet banking. After that, the buyer receives a Certificate with which he must come to the office at the appointed time to conclude the contract. Then you have to collect the necessary documents and again come to the office for a ticket.
It is important to consider: for children living in St. Petersburg, the regional government has provided a special subsidy that allows you to reduce the cost of a ticket by about 6-8 thousand rubles.
