In 1992, a new building was built near the main building (we are talking about a mansion built in 1815 for the Vyatka merchant I. Repin). Between them is a monument to the founders of the museum. These are artists V.M. Vasnetsov and his brother Apollinariy Mikhailovich.

The monument was created with the support of citizens and has a dedication "from grateful countrymen." The museum complex also includes an exhibition hall located near the main buildings. Old Russian and church art

The Department of Old Russian and Church Art began the formation of its fixed assets shortly after the creation of the museum. The beginning of the exposition was laid by N. Mashkovtsev, who insisted on the census and photographing of objects of icon painting and church utensils of the sacristy of the Cathedral. Many exhibits recorded in this inventory later ended up in the vaults and collections of the museum, which saved the unique works of ancient Russian masters from their sad fate during the establishment of Soviet power and the struggle against religion in the 1920s.

Visiting the Vasnetsovs (Kirov) museum, one can get acquainted with church and religious utensils made using various types of folk art - ornamental gold and face sewing, ancient salaries, copper casting, mainly Old Believer, religious vestments, printed and manuscript church books, carved cult objects and, of course, icon painting.

Viewing the collection of the Department of Old Russian and Church Art will allow you to get the most out of the images and stylistics of Old Russian culture, to know the artistic subtleties and traditions of the peoples of the Vyatka region.

Painting

The department of painting contains works by the greatest artists of not only Russia, but also the works of Dutch, Flanders, German, French painters of the 15th – 20th centuries. Unique graceful glass and porcelain products, lacquer miniatures and amazing objects carved from bone are presented here. Wooden works of art made in different parts of Russia deserve special attention due to their uniqueness and originality. The Vyatka art was awarded to the museum collection of this department of a special exposition.
