The game Metro: Last Light was the second project developed by the Ukrainian studio 4A Games. The release took place on May 14, 2013 on all advanced platforms (PS3, Xbox 360, PC). The publisher was Deep Silver.
Game Review
Ray of Hope was a direct continuation of the original Metro 2033, unrelated to the book sequel to Dmitry Glukhovsky. The starting point of the plot was the poor ending of the previous adventures of Artem, the main protagonist of both parts, where he destroyed the Blacks with deadly rockets. But in vain, as it turned out. One of the theories zealously put forward by Khan states that the Blacks are the new friends of mankind who could save the inhabitants of the subway from the inevitable civil conflict. Against this background, Artyom’s new drama unfolds when he is forced to look for the last surviving Black, while thinking about preventing a global war.
Nevertheless, do not expect any large-scale innovations in terms of gameplay. The game Metro: Last Light borrowed most of the gadgets and mechanics from the original part. Unfortunately, intense races with many scripted scenes and sometimes exciting action alternate with an unfinished stealth. Quiet progress in the plot here is very boring, the same and with a minimum of variations. And this is perhaps one of the main disappointments in the game. The arsenal to a greater extent moved from the previous part, but new trunks found a place here.
In principle, there is where to take a walk, especially if you take into account the possibility of customizing weapons with sights, flame arresters and other lotions. The developers added new mutants, among which there are even bosses. In general, the sequel turned out to be pretty good: a modified gameplay, a good storyline, colorful characters, live stations, gloomy and musty tunnels, enchanting views of the surface and atmospheric soundtrack. It all came out beautifully. Of course, there are flaws, but the advantages completely cross out annoying disadvantages.
Metro: Last Light Redux
On August 26, 2014, an updated version of Ray of Hope, which received several innovations and improvements, was released on a PC and a new generation console. First of all, the gameplay was polished to a shine, with which there were some gaps in the original. Secondly, the animation, graphics and physics of all the characters in the game, as well as mutants, have improved. Thirdly, all opponents received improved AI. Finally, Metro: Last Light Redux came out with all the previously released add-ons, which in total gives an increase of 10 hours of gameplay. An equally important element was the introduction of new game modes ("Survival" and "Spartan"), which are available to all players from the start of the passage.

Metro: Last Light - endings
As in the first part, in Last Light, the developers have provided 2 endings: good and bad. How do they differ and how to get a story with a positive and happy ending? Everything is pretty simple.
In a bad ending, Artem, having undermined D-6, dies with all his friends and communists. Black, which the baby found in the bunker, leave the people, promising to return. But Anna, with whom our hero became so close, gives birth to a son from him. To get such a finale is very simple: kill all people (including those who surrender), Pavel and Lesnik also have to die, do not save anyone, do not give ammunition to the poor. In general, be a devil in the flesh.
In a good ending, Artem, fortunately, remains alive, and the friendly Blacks help get rid of the "red" invaders. In the future, they leave, but promise to return in the future. Perhaps this is a hint at the next part of the game, which will again be tied to the mental relationship of the wondrous Blacks and Artem. Wait and see.
These are the endings in Metro: Last Light. As you know, the developers of Metro participated in the work on Stalker, where there were as many as 7 endings, and therefore the multiple finals of the game world have become a tradition. Well, we are waiting for the next masterpiece from the 4A Games studio.
Problems and solutions
No game is complete without a bundle of problems. This happened with the “Ray of Hope”, where gamers periodically have questions regarding various errors. Now we will analyze the most common problems.
- Metro: Last Light does not start or crashes immediately. This problem is often resolved by updating the video drivers.
- The game is very slow, sagging FPS or freezes . As a rule, the problem arises for players with a weak PC configuration. An upgrade (especially video cards) is likely to radically solve the problem. However, if you have a powerful system, then pay attention to the drivers. First of all, this applies to owners of graphics cards from AMD.
- The sound completely disappears or is delayed . Update the drivers on the sound card.
- "MSVCR100.dll is missing." It is solved by installing Microsoft Visual C ++.
- Errors dx9, d3dx9_26.dll, etc. Just upgrade your DirectX libraries or video card drivers.
- No flashes from shots and problems with visualization by fire are displayed. To solve the problem, you need to go to the folder with saves and game parameters. Open User.cfg, in which you will find the r_api setting and change it parameters from 1 to 0.
As a rule, it is precisely such problems that divide the players and the virtual world of Metro. We think our recommendations will help you.
Game secrets
Does Metro: Last Light have cheats? Unfortunately not. There were no official cheat codes for the game, however, there are many trainers that will greatly affect the difficulty of passing.
As for the Easter eggs (various secrets), they are in Metro: Last Light, the requirements for which are already at the level with the largest Western projects are enough with a surplus.
- First of all, these are books from the Metro universe scattered across all locations of the subway.
- At Venice Station you can enjoy a private dance at a local brothel.
- At the Teatralnaya station, Artem, when he will go with Pavel along the dressing room, is not displayed in the mirrors. Maybe a vampire?
- In the chapter "Temple" on one of the buildings you can see the inscription Roissya Vperde - "Russia forward!".
- At the previously mentioned Venice station you can find a matryoshka chest. That is, in the chest lies another, but smaller, and in it is the third, even smaller.
- In the chapter "Hell" you can find the mausoleum of Lenin.
- The Living Ghost. Among the many dialogs on the Hansa, one can hear a conversation about Yuri Semetsky, who is often not the most important character in the books of Russian science fiction writers and always dies.
That’s probably all.
Finally
Ray of Hope has become one of the best projects developed in the post-Soviet space. The game was warmly received by Western and domestic critics, and also received recognition from gamers from around the world. If you have not tried this game, then be sure to do it. Just stock up on this powerful PC or next-generation console in order to fully enjoy the gameplay.
