Shuyskaya, better known as Chuyskaya, steppe is the northernmost valley of Kyrgyzstan. It is familiar to the majority of inhabitants in its most unsightly quality - namely, as the largest base of vegetable narcotic raw materials. Indeed, Chuy valley (photo) is a kind of Mecca for drug dealers and lovers of the “soft” drug - hemp. Tens of hectares of this plant dope are destroyed annually on its open spaces. To say, like the authorities of the former USSR, that this territory is free from drugs and hemp plantations, you will not find here, it will be wrong. However, Chuy valley attracts not only adherents of addictions.
Located in one of the most picturesque places of Kyrgyzstan, this amazingly beautiful corner of nature is popular with fans of hang gliding and car tourism.

The Chui Valley is located in the area of the dangerous, but incredibly beautiful Kordai Pass. Huge, more than 140 thousand hectares, the territory of this place includes four picturesque natural zones. Moving around the territory, you can see with your own eyes the splendor of the steppe (valley), foothill, mountain and alpine zone.
The Chuy valley is characterized by rather sharp temperature differences characteristic of the steppe regions, breathtaking landscapes of majestic mountains. In the spring, its vast expanses literally “floods” with bright crimson poppies, but for the most part the spaces of the steppe territories are pretty monotonous.
For travelers
For lovers of mountain climbing, of course, the so-called Chui squirrels will seem attractive. This is the name that the North and South Chuisk passes received. The average height of the ridges in this area exceeds 3,500 meters.
The Chui Valley enjoys constant popularity among hang gliders. The most popular starts (starting points of flight): Thousand, Jalamysh, Chon-Tash. The height of the lowest start is 1270 meters (Zhalamysh), the highest - a little less than 2300 meters (Thousand). Due to the length and landscape features of these places, lovers of extreme entertainment get the opportunity from April to September to make dizzying flights, the length of which can be several tens of kilometers.
Car routes do not lag behind more exotic types of tourism. A trip along the Chuysky tract is a route that can impress even very discreet travelers. The most popular route is a trip along the highway from Biysk to the border with Mongolia. More than half of this distance lies on the territory of Chui, which allows us to fully appreciate the local, completely unique flavor.
Throughout the highway, travelers will come across settlements of local residents, small cafes that serve national cuisine. Around the numerous streams and rivers are equipped with comfortable places for parking and relaxation, which makes the trip more enjoyable. Landscapes that can be found only in this region open to a prying eye.
