Tesla light bulb and other facts about this scientist

At present, we cannot imagine life without technology. Indeed, now everyone in the house has electricity, gas, but do we often think about what brilliant scientists invented all this? The great chemists, mathematicians, physicists, including the inventor of the bulb Nikola Tesla, gave this world a new image thanks to its discoveries. In the article you will read about this scientist.

Biography of Nikola Tesla

The great inventor was born on July 10, 1856 in Croatia. He received his primary education first in Smiliany, then, after moving, he continued his studies first at school, then at Gospich gymnasium. Further, the future physicist entered the school in Karlovac and lived with his aunt.

After graduating in 1873, Tesla decided to return home to his family, despite the fact that there was a cholera epidemic there at that time. Nicola becomes infected and is near death, but miraculously recovers. In the future, Tesla himself suggested that this was facilitated by the fact that his father allowed him to engage in engineering. After the illness, Nicola began to see flashes of light with which his future inventions came to his mind. He introduced them and mentally tested them like a computer.

After recovering, the inventor had to go to serve in the Austro-Hungarian army, but his parents, deciding that he was not yet healthy, hid him in the mountains.

In 1875, Nikola entered the Graz Technical School and began to study electrical engineering. Already in his first courses, Tesla thought about the imperfection of DC machines, but was criticized by the professor. In the third year, the physicist became addicted to gambling. He squandered large sums of money until his mother borrowed money from friends from him. After that, he stopped playing.

Work

Since 1881, Nikola Tesla has served as an engineer at the Central Telegraph of Budapest. He is given the opportunity to contemplate some inventions, as well as to think about translating his ideas into reality. It was here that the great physicist introduced the world to a two-phase AC motor, then called by his name.

Nicola’s inventions made it possible to transmit energy over great distances, feeding lighting devices, for example, light bulbs. Tesla, however, a year later moved to Paris to work with entrepreneur Thomas Edison. His company was engaged in the construction of an electric station at the railway station of the city of Strasbourg, whose mayor will later demonstrate the operation of the asynchronous electric motor invented by him.

In 1884, Tesla went to America. He was offended that he was not paid the promised prize in Paris. There he begins to work as an engineer repairing electric motors in another company of Edison.

However, the latter begins to annoy the brilliant ideas of the great physicist. As a result, a million dollar dispute ensues between them. Nicola managed to win, but Edison reduced everything to a joke and did not pay the money. After that, Tesla quit and became unemployed. The salvation for him was an acquaintance with the American engineer Brown Thompson, thanks to which more people began to learn about young physics.

Business development

In 1888, Tesla met with the American industrialist and entrepreneur George Westinghouse, who buys from him most of the inventions, and then he is invited to work, but he hears the refusal of a physicist who does not want to limit his freedom.

Until 1895, Nikola Tesla was engaged in the study of magnetic fields. He also receives an invitation from the Institute of Electrical Engineers to deliver a lecture, which subsequently was an unprecedented success.

At the end of the same year, Nikola's laboratory with all the inventions burned down, but he claimed that he would be able to restore everything.

Personal life

Despite the remarkable appearance, intelligence and amazing character, the inventor was never married. In his opinion, a scientist should abandon his personal life for the sake of scientific inventions, because this is incompatible. Moreover, he never had a permanent residence: he stayed in hotels or in rented apartments.

How Tesla lit a bulb

Nikola had many inventions. However, most people know him because Tesla invented the light bulb. In addition, he was an amazing person who knew how to do physical tricks. These include focus with a light bulb. Tesla lit it in his hand by passing a high-voltage current through himself.

Nicola is the author of many inventions, without which it is impossible to imagine the modern world. These include an AC motor, a Tesla coil, a radio, X-rays, a Tesla light bulb, a laser, a plasma ball, and much more. His genius and mentality even scared some people.

Memory

In honor of Nikola several monuments were erected in different cities, his portrait was depicted on banknotes. Streets in some settlements and even a crater on the moon (in 1970), as well as Surchinsky Airport in the suburbs of Belgrade, are named after the inventor of Tesla's bulb.
