A boy’s onion costume can be mainly needed for an autumn holiday, when heroes in the form of vegetables and fruits are present in the script. Onions contain many useful vitamins, so its presence at the children's party is well founded. If your son was given such an unusual role, do not be discouraged; it is not difficult to make such an outfit. In the article we will give several possible options for tailoring, tell you what materials will be needed for this, and step by step explain their manufacture.
Easiest option
This bow suit for a boy is a yellow shorts with a green single harness on a large decorative button. On the child’s head wears a conical hat with an ornament on the top, in the form of feathers of green onions. You can choose fabric from faux fur, as in the photo below, but do not forget that it is usually very hot during the holiday, and even the children move a lot. In fur trousers and a hat, the child can be hot. The best material for making a costume would be felt or cotton. Felt is convenient because its edges do not crumble, it will not be necessary to hem the lower edge.
You can sew pants by attaching the child’s summer shorts to the material. A harness is a strip of fabric, approximately 5 cm wide. At the back, it is sewn to the center point of the shorts, and then it is thrown over the shoulder and fastens on the button in front. The hat is sewn of fabric folded in a triangle. Its lower part is equal to half the circumference of the head. Before stitching the seam, a bunch of thin green strips of felt is inserted at the top. The onion suit is ready!
Satin costume
This manufacturing option is suitable for those mothers who have a sewing machine at home. Atlas material is slippery, but looks spectacular. Pants are sewn in the form of wide bloomers, on the belt and at the bottom on each leg there is an elastic band. Jacket is made of material folded in half. From above we make a neckline and bend the edge. We insert an elastic band inside to pick up the fabric. Bocs must not be hardened to the end. Openings for the hands are left. The bottom can be collected on an elastic band, but can be left level and tucked into pants. An additional element for a bow suit will be a hat.
Therefore, further work takes place on the beret. To do this, cut out a large circle from gold fabric. The circumference of the child’s head is measured, and a stripe of green is cut to measure. A needle and thread are threaded along the edge of the circle and sewn with stitches around the entire perimeter. Next, you need to pull the thread and pick up the fabric to the size of a green strip. Then sew the rim in a circle. Be sure at the last stage you need to try on takes on the child’s head so that nothing crushes and crawls. It remains at the end to attach feathers to the bow, and the bow suit for the boy with his own hands is ready!
Wide option
Since the onion is a round-shaped vegetable, the costume can also be made wide and voluminous. For this jacket is not cut out smoothly, but extended downward, in the shape of a trapezoid. The neck and bottom are sealed with elastic. Sleeves can also be sewn wide and decorated on the hands assembly. For example, sleeveless jacket, if under the bottom wear a yellow or orange turtleneck. The collar is decorated with green sharp corners. This is quite a painstaking job, since separately it is necessary to sew triangular pieces of fabric together on the wrong side and then turn them on the front side. When a large number of such corners are made, they are sewn onto the line of the neck from the inside. You can make it easier by buying a green felt sheet and sewing it to the neck. Then cut the corners with scissors. Sheathing is not necessary, since the edges of the felt do not crumble.

Hat for onions
To make the onion suit look finished, you can sew a hat with feathers of greenery, as in the photo below. After measuring the circumference of the child’s head, we transfer the measurements to the material folded in half. Cut a rectangle the length of which is equal to the circumference of the head plus 2 cm to the seams, 1 cm on each side.
Several pointed strips of fabric are cut from felt. You can stitch them together in a bundle. Then the tip gathers around the feathers and is sewn with simple threads to match the color of the fabric.
