Blizzard is known for its projects around the world. At first, she earned fame at the expense of MMORPG - World of Warcraft - and strategy - Starcraft, which rightfully occupy the leading lines of ratings. Then came the Hearthstone card game, also based on Blizzard universes. Now, the players are invited to a new project - an Overwatch shooter, the release date of which is May 24, 2016. Access to information is open, and gamers can find out what Overwatch characters are capable of.
Classes
As in many other shooters in which players fight team by team, various character classes are presented here. In total, they are divided into four types:
- a tank is a fighter who must fight at the forefront, defending his allies. Its hallmarks are slowness and low damage;
- support - characters whose skills are aimed at healing and strengthening teammates. They can do little alone, but with a competent game they can turn the whole course of the battle;
- defense - these characters are designed for positional play: sappers, snipers and everyone who needs to cover the backs of associates;
- assault - the main striking force of the unit, causing maximum damage, but very vulnerable in other respects.
While the game has not reached the masses, and mass battles are pure theory, it is very difficult to say exactly how Overwatch characters will interact. Which combinations are the best, which set of heroes is the most balanced - we will receive answers to these questions only after the release.
Tanks
Now let's take a closer look at Overwatch. The overview of the characters will be very brief, but given that the characters have only four skills (with rare exceptions), then a lot of time will not be needed.
Turboswin at first glance resembles a butcher from Warcraft or Dota. And his abilities are similar. The main auto attack is carried out from a shotgun with buckshot, and the ultimate ability turns it into a machine gun. In addition, this character is able to attract opponents with a hook and heal.
Zarya is a Russian weightlifting athlete. Fires a continuous laser beam or grenade launcher. Able to put protective shields on himself and allies, thus increasing his own damage. The most powerful ability is a bomb, which pulls opponents into one point and keeps them there for some time.
Reinhardt is an amazing character for a shooter, since he has only melee weapons at his disposal. However, other skills completely compensate for this. He is able to set himself a shield, forcing the line of defense of opponents. The jerk allows you to drastically reduce the distance, and in the case of a hit, it does huge damage. In addition, you can periodically release a wave of fire that passes through the affected opponents. Ulta allows you to knock down all enemies in front of you.
Winston is a highly intelligent monkey. Used by a stun gun (tesla). Able to put a protective dome for himself and his allies. With the help of a jetpack climbs on a hill. In a state of rage, increases melee strength.
Help your neighbor
The following list of Overwatch characters we will devote to the completely opposite class - support.
Lucio is a music lover and musician. Attacks bursts of sound impulses or repels the enemy in close combat. It has two types of auras - acceleration and healing. May strengthen them for a while. Ultoy protects allies with shields.
Zenyatta is a Buddhist robot. Uses spheres to attack an adversary or heal an ally. Also curses one enemy, increasing damage over it. Ultoy enters into a state of invulnerability and begins to heal everyone around.
An angel is able to heal an ally (up to 30 hp per second and increases its damage). Can quickly fly to an ally in a critical situation and even resurrect him if necessary.
Symmetra attacks in close combat, and no one escapes the homing laser. Also shoots a bunch, passing even through the shields. Additional skills allow you to shield your allies with a shield and set automatic turrets. Ulta allows you to put a teleport on the spawn point and at the specified location.
As you can see, Overwatch characters focused on helping an ally mostly heal. However, even here there is room for imagination and the search for a hero ideally suited to your style of play.

Defenders will play an equally important role in the match. Yes, some of the characters already presented can play a similar role, but Overwatch has a good balance, so it would be better to take the corresponding character.
The widow is a sniper for life. In addition to firing from a sniper rifle, she uses a hook to climb to an inaccessible point. The poisonous mine, although it does not kill instantly, is capable of tearing off nerves. And infrared will save you and your team from ambushes more than once.
Thorbjorn is a gnome engineer. Able to build turrets, improve them and create armor for allies.
The bastion is a transforming robot. It can run and shoot like an ordinary soldier, and is also able to turn into a stationary machine gun with a very powerful shield in front. Ulta allows you to release a radio-controlled mine, which in the explosion will kill almost any enemy.
The Rat Rider is a crazy demoman. It shoots grenades ricocheting from the walls and is able to set a trap and mines. At death, it undermines everyone around.
"Attack"
What other heroes remained in Overwatch? The characters whose photos you could see in the article belong to the class of attack aircraft, responsible for causing the main damage to the enemy.
Genji is a cyber ninja. Throws shurikens in a cone in front of them, reflects bullets and tears apart opponents in close combat.
Soldier 76. In Overwatch, the story of the characters is one of the main highlights. However, here the developers clearly cheated, setting the parameter "unknown" on all the data. Fires from an automatic rifle and missiles. Able to accelerate and set a medical "beacon". Ulta is a classic "aim-cheat" that allows you to shoot accurately at the enemy without aiming.
McCree is a cowboy with a revolver. Stuns enemies with grenades and dodges somersaults. Ulta allows you to attack all enemies in sight, but only after a certain preparation.
Reconnaissance in battle
Some attack aircraft are more suitable for reconnaissance operations than for a protracted battle.
Hanzo is a classic archer using different types of arrows. Ulta is one of the strongest in the game, because you cannot hide from it behind obstacles.
Farrah is a Space Marine. Fires rockets and uses a jetpack. Able to scatter enemies to the sides and destroy shields.
Reaper. Used a couple of cuts. Able to teleport and become invulnerable. Ultoy destroys everyone around him in a certain radius.
Tracer is a racer. Able to move very quickly on the map due to the "blinks". Uses quick-fire pistols and can lay a very strong mine.
That's all. Overwatch characters are over. The trained eye could already notice that there are so many tactical possibilities in the game that each player can find something of his own in any hero.
