Embroidered towels for baptism
Kryzhma (that's what baptismal towels are called) plays a special role in the sacrament of baptism. They possess the power of the amulet and carry it in themselves throughout the entire course of a person’s life.

Then you need to go back, completing the same "half-cross" in the other direction. Choosing a terry towel for such work, you need to understand that embroidering on it is quite difficult. The fabric itself is not very simple, it does not have a smooth surface, and transferring a sketch to it will be problematic.

Since a terry towel has a fleecy structure, it is best to embroider it with stitch. Embroidered elements in any case will differ in their texture, so it is best to highlight them with contrasting threads.
Getting to work, the first step is to choose a suitable pattern - it can be initials, an inscription or just a beautiful drawing. In any case, the dimensions of the selected pattern should correspond to the dimensions of the towel itself.
Since patterns are applied to terry fabrics, it is best to choose felt as the basis. Thanks to this, embroidery on a towel will become more voluminous and convex. When using felt, the pattern can be made more noticeable.
The sketch must be cut and sewn to the selected part of the towel with regular stitches. After that, embroidery is done with satin stitch (manually or on a typewriter). In fact, the embroidery technique does not matter - it can be straight or oblique stitches. Care must be taken to ensure that the edges of the sketch are not visible from the outside. Embroidery on a towel will look more voluminous if it is stitched with flooring.
