Mines
Since we are talking about high levels, then very often in Boom Beach the placement of the base level 15 includes mines. Once they become available to you, you should start using them. You need to locate them near your headquarters, placing them around. Unfortunately, the mines disappear after the first contact, so you should not rely solely on them. This should be an emergency measure, and not the main line of defense. We should also think about how far from the headquarters you will create your minefield. The fact is that if you place mines too close to the headquarters, some opponents will be able to fire on it, before they reach the minefield. And if they are located too far away, this will reduce their effectiveness, as well as require too high costs. The longer the circumference, the more mines you will have to purchase to make your field effective.
Low level
If you have not reached level nine yet, then you should definitely consider using the coastal arrangement, next to the docks. This arrangement will allow you to cover immediately two directions of attack, leaving the enemy only two others. Accordingly, it will be easier for you to defend, however, such tactics have their drawbacks, as it deprives you of flexibility:

Middle level
