Well rings: types, sizes, characteristics

Wells can be equipped when laying a wide variety of communications - water pipes, sewer systems, cable highways, etc. But in most cases, their walls are reinforced with ready-made rings of a special design. Products of this variety can have a different configuration, diameter and height.

Main varieties

When laying communications, well rings can be used:

  1. Wall. Such products are used to form the necks of all kinds of well structures.

  2. Standard. Rings of this type are used to actually strengthen the walls of the wells of network, drainage, gas, etc.

  3. Auxiliary. Such rings are made to order and differ in non-standard sizes and configuration.

Well rings can be made of reinforced concrete or plastic. Both types are used when laying communications quite often, and can have both their advantages and disadvantages.

The well is communication

What are reinforced concrete rings

Products of this variety are made using cement mortar and metal fittings. Reinforced concrete rings in the forms of a special design.

In order to make the rings as durable as possible, their production uses vibration compression technology. A certain disadvantage of this type of product is its heavy weight. Reinforced concrete products are installed in pits, usually using special equipment. The weight of a well ring with an inner diameter of 1000 mm, a wall thickness of 80 mm, and a height of 890 m made of brand 200 concrete, for example, is 0.6 tons.

Reinforced Concrete Well Rings

What are the varieties of reinforced concrete rings

When arranging wells for various purposes, the following can be used:

  1. Ordinary rings. Products of this type may be high or low. Rings of this type are distinguished by such an indicator as wall thickness.

  2. Well rings with a bottom. Such products are made from high-strength concrete of the M200-M500 brand. They are monolithic rings of this type and are used to equip hermetic tanks.

  3. Rings with a lock. Such rings have special grooves at the bottom and at the top of the edges. Use products of this type when assembling wellbores, for example, on unstable soils.

Reinforced concrete well rings are round or square in shape. When laying communications, the first variety of products is most often used.

Marking concrete goods wells

In order for the consumer to understand the purpose of the rings, manufacturers mark them in a special way. The most famous letter designations of products of this type in construction are:

  • KO - supporting reinforced concrete ring installed below - in the foundation part of the shaft;

  • KS - wall rings;

  • KVG - products used in the arrangement of water or gas wells;

  • KLK - rings used in rainwater drainage systems ;

  • KFK - products used in the installation of drainage systems or collector networks.

In addition to letters, in the marking of reinforced concrete rings, there are usually numbers that indicate their diameter and height. The covers and bottoms of such products can be marked with the letters PP or PC and PN and PD, respectively.

Types of Plastic Rings

Standard sizes of concrete well rings

When arranging all kinds of communications, products of this type of various sizes can be used. But most often, the walls of the wells are strengthened with well rings:

  • KS10-9 with a height of 890 mm and a diameter of 1 m;

  • KS10-6, the dimensions of which are 590 and 1000 mm, respectively;

  • KS10-3 with a height of 250 mm and a diameter of 1 m.

The wall thickness used in laying communications reinforced concrete rings can vary between 70-120 mm. Most often, products with a diameter of 1 m are installed in the wells. But when installing engineering systems, rings of other sizes can also be used - from 70 to 200 cm. The height of such products can be 10-100 cm.

Characteristics of concrete products

Concrete sewer wells are usually made from cement mortar using polymer sand mixtures. Indeed, in the process of operation, these products often come in contact with water.

In the manufacture of reinforced concrete rings at the enterprises, not ordinary formwork is used, but special vibroforms. They are first installed reinforcing structure. Then the concrete mix is applied to the mold and compacted by vibration. This technology allows you to produce the most durable rings.

Reinforced concrete installation

What are plastic wells

Products of this type reinforced concrete, of course, are somewhat inferior. However, these rings also have one important advantage. Plastic wells are much easier to install than reinforced concrete. You can install such a product in place without the use of special equipment, simply by hand.

Wells of this type are made of polymeric materials and can have both smooth and corrugated walls. Depending on the diameter, products of this type are divided into narrow (up to 1 m) and wide (over 1 m).

Types of well rings made of plastic

By design, products of this variety are classified into monolithic and prefabricated. The latter type of wells is more expensive, but it is also considered much more convenient to use. If desired, such a well can be adjusted to a pit of any depth.

By designation, such products may be:

  • sewer;

  • plumbing;

  • drainage.

Sewer plastic sewer rings in turn are:

  • revision with a tray element;

  • sedimentary, supplemented by branched pipes;

  • differential;

  • inspection tight with a ladder;

  • eccentric.

Wells made of concrete

Also, when laying communications, accumulative sealed sewer wells can be used. Such products have a bottom and are covered with a lid.

Varieties of material

In this regard, plastic sewer rings are distinguished:

  • polyethylene with a long service life;

  • durable polypropylene;

  • fiberglass resistant to hostile environment.

The design of all these types of rings is such that installing them in place takes a minimum of time. All seams and joints of plastic products are thought out in advance.

Plastic well ring

Dimensions and characteristics of plastic wells

Products of this variety, of course, also vary in shape and size. Well rings made of plastic can have a diameter of 600 to 1,500 mm. The wall thickness of products of this type in most cases is 50 mm. But non-standard ring options with thicker or thinner walls are also on sale.

The height of the plastic rings starts at 500 mm. At the highest wells, this figure is 1500 mm. Outside, plastic rings are usually complemented by stiffeners, which greatly increases the service life. Despite the fact that the plastic wells of concrete products are inferior in strength, in most cases they can withstand soil pressure without much difficulty.
